Positioned on a hillside above the tiny hamlet of Easton, close to the Scottish border, this tranquil shepherd’s hut provides a wonderful romantic hideaway for two. Surrounded by meadowland and trees, the hut sits by a stream and offers serene views of the beautiful countryside. Featuring a fire pit, a welcoming wood burner and a separate kitchen and shower block, this delightful property makes a fabulous retreat for couples seeking an idyllic holiday in a picturesque part of Cumbria. Set on a 15-acre smallholding, with chances to meet some of the animals on-site, the property is within easy reach of the Solway Coast, Northumberland National Park and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

A path leads through the garden to the shepherd’s hut which can be reached by a flight of three small steps. Inside you will find a lovely living area with a wood burner, TV, a bench, and a small dining table with chairs. The hut also has a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge. To the rear of the hut, you will find the cosy double bed which is slightly raised and offers glorious views from the windows. Stepping outside, a separate building is just across the lawn, housing a fully equipped kitchen and a stylish shower room. Next to the hut is a private picnic table along with a BBQ and a covered shelter, and you can also explore the grounds which has a fire pit, a stream and other seating areas.

There are miles of wonderful walks on both sides of the border, with the route of Hadrian’s Wall running nearby. The historic city of Carlisle (13 miles) has plenty of shops and great places to eat and drink. Attractions include Solway Aviation Museum, Gilnockie Tower and Walby Farm Park (all within 13 miles).

The accommodation was very comfortable, and everything you needed was to hand. The shower room was excellent, and the kitchen area is well equipped. Everything was spotlessly clean. Goblin Gill Shepherd's Hut is an absolute gem. Probably one of the best places myself and my partner have stayed. The hosts were amazing and very welcoming, they gave recommendations for walks, food, things to do. They even provided beers, popcorn and marshmallows next to a little hidden cabin next to the private river - absolutely loved this. VRead morearious animals throughout their land which the hosts were more than happy to show us around and allow us to pet them etc. All in all, a very welcoming couple and an absolutely lovely area. This was our third visit, and each stay has been better than the last. The hosts consistently provide everything you need to feel comfortable and welcome. Whether you want a base for exploring the area or simply to relax and enjoy the surrounding nature, this location offers it all. Animal lovers will be especially delighted by the abundance of wilRead moredlife, including turkeys, chickens, ducks, goats, pigs, a pony, and cowsbefore you even notice the many other birds, including woodpeckers. I cant recommend this place enough, the owners - so kind and caring, made us feel very welcome. Peace and quiet was beyond our expectations. Birds singing , animals living their happy life on the farm. We have stayed twice now at Goblin Gill and we genuinely cannot fault it at all. It's a bit out of the way but it's exactly what we were looking for, the WiFi is decent for how far out you are. The property is lovely with lots to explore and lots of animals to cuddle and say hi to. The Goats and Pigs in particular are lovely.
