There's a wealth of walking right from the door whether it's soaring mountain peaks or gentle riverside strolls that interest you. The village itself boasts two pubs and two restaurants serving good food and local real ales. There's also a much-loved shop that is a hub for village life just a short stroll away. Whinlatter Forest is an absolute must for visitors with miles of cycling and walking tracks, an excellent cafe, imaginative playpark and a high ropes course where you can test your adventurous side high up in the forest canopy.

For a taste of local town life then Keswick lies just 2 miles away. It's a bustling market town with independent shops, good pubs, restaurants and cafes. Keswick has its own cinema and the gorgeous Theatre by the Lake not to mention a huge choice of outdoor shops and adventure companies ready to take you out and test your wilder side! Braithwaite really does make the perfect place to launch your adventures or just enjoy what's on the doorstep.

On arrival at the house guests enter via the front door into the hallway. There are coat hooks and an under-stairs cupboard with plenty of space for your outdoor bits and bobs. To the right of the hall is the comfortable and welcoming living room. With a soft brown leather sofa and large snuggler chair arranged around an open fire and Smart TV with Freeview and decorated with a warm palette of colours, it makes a lovely place to relax after your Lakeland adventures. There's a lovely view from the two front windows out onto the stream passing below and a built-in cupboard with plenty of games to keep you entertained.

At the back of the house is the lovely modern kitchen/diner. Refurbished to a high standard with modern units, a built-in fan oven, gas hobs, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and all the crockery and cookware you will need for your stay. There's a dining table for four with a dresser and books for keeping you occupied and a neat little hatch for calling through to the living room. There's also a back porch off the kitchen with more room for muddy boots.

Great location for walking directly into the hills / mountains. Very comfortable and warm cottage, did not need to use the fire during a cold February week. A well looked after home, with everything you need and more. We thought it was much nicer than the photos depicted - lovely bedrooms. Conveniently close to village shop and pubs / restaurants. Great cottage in a lovely location. Near to local pubs and cafes but also lots of walks . Be aware that it is a very narrow driveway to the parking area that is difficult when the area is overgrown. There is parking at the church as well
