Surrounded by idyllic countryside, this cheerful bungalow makes a fantastic getaway for families, couples and friends seeking a relaxing break in a beautiful part of Cumbria. Set in the picturesque village of Dovenby on the outskirts of the Lake District, the property offers cosy accommodation for up to six guests and features a wood burner, wooden flooring and a large garden with tranquil rural views. Midway between the historic market town of Cockermouth and the delightful coastal resort of Maryport, this charming retreat is perfect for walkers, climbers, nature watchers and history buffs discovering the area’s glorious, lakes, mountains and coastline.

The bungalow features a light, relaxing lounge with comfortable seating, a Smart TV, a wood burner and views over the garden, making a great space to get together and relax after a fabulous day exploring the Lake District. The handsome dining room is perfect for marking special occasions and for sharing family meals which you can rustle up in the spacious, fully equipped country-style traditional kitchen. There’s also a family bathroom and three tastefully decorated bedrooms: one charming double, a lovely king-size and a cosy bunk bedroom. Outside, the front terrace has a couple of seating areas with ample outdoor furniture, offering a sweet space for dining alfresco and enjoying the views over the large garden.

Dovenby has a friendly village pub and is just outside the Georgian market town of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth and home to a wide variety of great shops, pubs and restaurants (2.5 miles). Heading west, Maryport has a shingle beach, a Roman museum and an aquarium by the bustling harbour (4.5 miles). To the east, you can explore the northern fringes of the Lake District, with Bassenthwaite Lake, the Lake District Wildlife Park and The Lakes Distillery all within 10 miles.

Bungalow is in a lovely location in the countryside and lucky to have a pub just down the road. Very spacious property, large kitchen and seperate dining room always welcome.

The description is very accurate as are the pictures and we thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay. It's very well equipped with everything you need (just bring food, drink and clothes) and the house is very clean and comfortable. Fantastic bungalow with a big enclosed garden which the dog loved. Scrupulously clean and with everything you could possibly need plus more. Lovely quiet location with a pub at the end of the road. Within driving distance of some beautiful walks. Highly recommended.

A lovely cottage in a great location! Easy to get to places and you are constantly surrounded by stunning views! Great for exploring and walking. The cottage was really comfortable and spacious. It had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend!

A lovely property, very clean and spacious, and stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The little extras were a nice touch - dog balls and poop bags, washing detergent, fresh flowers in the dining room, plenty of info leaflets on places to visit or local takeaway deliveries, Wi-Fi. Fabulous week at Stonecross with the family - the cottage is really spacious and had everything we needed, with incredible views. Garden huge and secure (cattle grid/gates at entrance) which both the kids and dogs loved. We had glorious sunshine every day so the outside space really appreciated. The 2-minute walk to the pub was a chore (haha!) - maRead morein road v busy when crossing to take the dogs, wouldn't have wanted to take the kids with me to try and cross. Great location! Hide

Had an amazing week at stone cross view bungalow. The property is spacious and extremely cosy and clean. It really is like home from home. The seating area and swings outside are a lovely added touch and really needed after a days hiking. The garden is enormous and at the bottom in the field cows are grazing daily which was lovely to watch. SkiddawRead more mountain can be seen to the left so remember to bring binoculars as views are beautiful. The Ship inn is literally a two min walk from the bungalow. Hide

The bungalow was spacious and very comfortable. The garden was enormous and greatly loved by our dogs. The location was perfect for us, close to many of the lakes and also to the coast. The short amble to the nearby Ship Inn for excellent meals was much appreciated after busy days sightseeing.

We loved the cottage. It was so comfortable and reasonably well equipped. There was a lovely view across fields towards Skiddaw at the front. Our dog loved the expanse of grass at the front. The garden is safe and the drive has a cattle grid which our dog wouldn't venture across. There were metal hurdles which we could have put across the drive if Read moreneeded. The owners thoughtfully provided a few poo bags and dog bowls. Sainsbury's was 10 mins away in Cockermouth. Keswick was 30 mins away. Lovely. Hide

We had a good holiday staying at Stonecross view , nice well equipped cottage Ideal location for walking the lakes that are close by ( we managed to walk around three Buttermere, Derwent, Ennerdale ) Sunday carvery at the lifeboat inn in Maryport . A great property, ideally situated for the northern Lakes and Keswick. Easy to get to the north Cumbria coast too. The property is not far from a busy A road, but once inside there is no traffic noise. The property is spacious and comfortable and well equipped.

We had such a wonderful stay at Stonecross, perfectly equipped for 4 adults and 2 children and our dog. The enclosed garden and swing made it very relaxing for us all. A gorgeous bungalow with some very thoughtful touches included. We loved staying here. The pictures show it as it is - a spacious, clean, comfortable holiday home. What a gem of a find. A beautiful well equipped, spacious and clean bungalow. Stunning location, not overlooked with a massive secure garden. I was able to sit on the patio and throw balls for our dog while I enjoyed a glass of wine in the sunshine. The local pub The Ship serves lovely hearty portions of home cooked food. Amazing property very spacious with an absolutely beautiful view . We cannot recommend it enough it was a beautiful homely stay. It was a very quiet area to stay in. The host Jill is so lovely . This cottage is absolutely beautiful. There were fresh flowers in the dining room, doggy bits in the utility room, clean towels and little toiletries in all the rooms.
