Nice area, homely, warm welcome from owners. Kitchen has what you need. Bedroom decorated well and looks nice, though the bed was too firm for me (it could be personal preference but it really impacted my stay. I was advised on arrival to contact the owners to adjust heating that was on a thermostat, so I didn't feel I could just be and adjust thinRead moregs on my own and at my own time schedule. Water didn't heat up enough for a warm bath. Everything else was great, but those factors were important. Hide

We enjoyed our stay, aided by the friendly and helpful owners. The location in the delightful village of Gamblesby was excellent, with a number of walks available from the front door. The cottage we stayed at (Herdwick) is pleasant; the only downside is that the living area/kitchen is a tight fit.

This is a comfortable, compact, nicely decorated and well equipped cottage, dog-friendly, and ideally located in a quiet village for touring beautiful countryside in any direction. The owners are warm and welcoming without being intrusive. Thoroughly recommended.

A lovely ensemble of buildings around a courtyard offer a variety of holiday homes-from-home in a picturesque village in the foothills of the Pennines. Exceptionally friendly and welcoming hosts who possess a wealth of local knowledge and encouragement for exploring further afield.
