This delightful cottage, in an elevated position affording marvellous views, is ideal for families and friends looking for outdoor adventures in the North Lake District. The village has a welcoming feel, with two pubs and a handy convenience shop. The pretty market town of Keswick (3 miles) is perfect for an afternoon by the lake, browsing the independent shops, or hopping aboard the Keswick Launch across Derwent Water.

Step inside this inviting, light and airy property, hang up your jackets and leave your walking boots, then move through to a lovely farmhouse-style kitchen with everything you need to rustle up hearty meals. The dining area is upstairs on the mezzanine level. From the kitchen, follow the corridor through into the welcoming lounge space, which maximises the spectacular views from its many windows. Settle into the comfortable seating with a warm drink for a chat or enjoy watching a movie on the Smart TV. Continue along the corridor to find three attractive double bedrooms with ample storage. The first double boasts an en-suite shower room and access to the conservatory, while the second has access to a balcony featuring sweeping views over the mountains. A family bathroom completes the interior of this charming cottage. Outside, the rear garden has a level patio area, with a step up to the lawned garden, which is steep in places, and leads to another patio area at the front of the property with an outdoor dining area and magnificent views. There is private parking for three cars.

Nearby Whinlatter Forest (4.5 miles) is a must-visit attraction for mountain bikers, while Honister Slate Mine (11.5 miles) delivers a more dramatic day out among the fells. Otherwise, Cockermouth (12 miles) is perfect for a relaxing wander around its Georgian streets and indulging at the many eateries.

We had a lovely stay at Tethera cottage. The accommodation was spacious and very comfortable with magnificent views. Lots of outdoor seating on the raised decking area overlooking the views. The kitchen was well equipped and the mezzanine dining area also had great views.
