Stay at this lovely cottage on the edge of the Lake District National Park, ideal for families or friends looking for a restful holiday with easy access to outdoor adventures. There are lots of walks in Caldbeck, including the riverside walk to Howk Gorge, past the old Bobbin Mill, half a mile away. If you prefer walking in the fells, then High Pike is 6 miles away and Blencathra is 14 miles away. Explore the beauty of the Lakes with a day out at Ullswater, 20 miles away, where you can take a trip on the steamer around the lake or enjoy exploring the extensive walking trails. Tranquil Bassenthwaite Lake, 10 miles away, is a nature reserve, perfect for wildlife enthusiasts and overlooked by the magnificent peak of Skiddaw. Alternatively, visit historic Carlisle, 14 miles away, famous for its 900-year-old castle, beautiful cathedral, and plenty of galleries, shops, and eateries.

Enter via the corridor, and you will find, first on your left, the splendid dining room with striking exposed wooden beams, an easy chair, and plenty of natural light, making this a lovely social space to linger over dinner. On the right is an elegant country-style living room with ample comfortable seating, ideal for chatting or popping a log into the cosy wood burner and watching a movie on the Smart TV. Further down on the left is the contemporary kitchen with all the appliances you need to cook up a storm. There is also a spacious boot room, ideal for muddy boots and for giving dogs their own space. At the end of the corridor, stairs lead up to the two elegant bedrooms, both with characterful exposed wooden ceiling beams and a TV. The first is a double bedroom featuring an en-suite shower room, and the second is a twin zip and link, which can offer flexible sleeping by being made into a super-king-size on request, along with plenty of storage and a delightful ornamental fireplace. Absolutely gorgeous cottage in an amazing location. The cottage has such a lovely feel about it, it has been done to a high standard and we felt instantly relaxed. The village itself is also beautiful, with a combination of lovely short walks and longer ones. Loved the self serve milk from the dairy. Would love to come back and stay longer next timRead moree. Superb luxurious cottage, it had everything we needed, spacious but also warm and cosy. We had a lovely break in a beautiful quiet area of the Lakes.

We had such a lovely stay at Beech Cottage and would definitely stay again. The house is recently renovated and everything was perfect. We couldn't have asked for a nicer home, we felt warm and safe and comfortable. The owner was so kind and attentive. Walks out of the door, all the amenities you need in the village. The local pub with great food wRead moreas just a few minutes walk from the door. The village has a really lovely community feel to it. Was very relaxing. Hide
