Located on a country estate overlooking Coniston Water is this charming two-bedroom stone cottage. With direct access to the estate’s private lake and extensive grounds, it’s an idyllic spot for a small family or couple looking to immerse themselves in nature.

Pleasant furnishings, ambient lighting, and creamy tones make this a homely place. After a day out exploring, step through the front door and relax in the lounge with its plump sofas, TV, and warming wood burner. When mealtime beckons, you’ll find plenty of appliances in the kitchen to create delicious dinners then serve them at the sociable table with seating for five people. As the evening draws to an end, retire upstairs to bed. Choose between a king-size bedroom with an additional single bed (perfect for young children) and a double bedroom. Both rooms are wonderfully comfortable with peaceful decor and treetop views to ensure a good night’s sleep. Also on this floor is a bathroom. Back on ground level, a courtyard dotted with flowers and trees is shared with the other four holiday homes. Enjoy a quiet coffee at the garden table while listening to the birdsong or take a walk through the extensive grounds and soak up the breathtaking mountain and lake views.

Enjoy lakeside walks along Coniston Water, try your hand at paddleboarding and kayaking, or bring your sailing boat. For a fun day out, jump on the Gondola Steam Yacht and cruise down the water. Alternatively, head to the village of Coniston (1.5 miles) and explore the local shops, restaurants, and pubs. The village sits under the shadow of the Old Man of Coniston, a legendary fell offering plenty of challenging walking and cycling routes. More gentle walks can be found at Grizedale Forest (8 miles), a beautiful woodland with eight trails, park sculptures, and zip wires.

We had a great week staying at Grizedale Cottage. The cottage was spotless , and we were very comfortable. Each evening after dinner we walked down to the lake edge and watched the swans and ducklings. It was so quiet , and the scenery was just beautuful. This was our second visit to Grizedale. The location is superb; very quiet but easy to reach by car, with lovely gardens overlooking Coniston Water and direct access to the water via a grassy track. Perfect for our inflatable boat! It's a very clean and comfortable cottage fitted out to a high standard. The kitchen is really well equipped for cRead moreooking, though there are good eating places in Coniston village (four pubs and one hotel serving food, plus good tearooms), which is just over a mile away and an easy walk. There are plenty of walks direct from the cottage, from lakeside strolls to the high fells. The owners are helpful and friendly and respond quickly to enquiries, but are unobtrusive - thank you!. We can really recommend Grizedale and will be back!. Hide

We have just returned from the most wonderful week in this idyllic cottage! The location was fabulous and so perfect for our love of wild swimming and Kayaking. The weather last week was fabulous, but this cottage would have still been great to stay in whatever the weather! The owners, Wendy and Richard gave us a lovely warm welcome when we arrivedRead more and Isaac, their son, who took over when they left for their holiday the next day, was equally warm, friendly and very helpful. We will be back! Hide
