  • Plenty of space to relax with cosy lounge and additional comfortable seating area in the conservatory as well as extensive shared grounds
Property code: OC-LCC19

Gather a group for a holiday in Cumbria. This apartment is on the ground floor of a beautiful, Gothic-style building, surrounded by a mountain range and near to the market town of Keswick. It’s flexible and would suit a small family or a group of friends. You’ll have lots of nature and incredible views all around.

The apartment is full of fun quirks and unexpected touches. You enter through the conservatory, which is a lovely space to relax on a sunny morning, perhaps with a book, and then continue through to an airy lounge/diner with gorgeous, high ceilings. The room has a classical feel, with a wood burner and a window seat overlooking the grounds. Next, there’s a galley-style kitchen with plenty of amenities, including a coffee machine for delicious drinks. The property has two bedrooms; one king-size and a flexible room. The king-size bedroom comes with an en-suite bathroom for privacy and comfort, and the flexible room can either be made up with one super-king-size bed or twin beds, as you prefer. You’ll have a shared shower room with a WC, too. Head outside, where you’ll find extensive grounds which are shared between all the house’s residents. There’s lots to explore, places to sit and a stream for wildlife.

This area is a paradise for everyone who loves the outdoors. You’ll be 4.5 miles from Skiddaw, one of the more famous mountains, and there are plenty more to check out in the vicinity. If you’d like some fascinating ancient history, go to the Castlerigg Stone Circle (4 miles) which is thought to be around 5,000 years old. For supplies, head 2.5 miles to Keswick.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 king-size and 1 twin (can be made up as a super-king by request at the point of booking)
  • En-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC to the master bedroom
  • Shower room with shower and WC

The property was clean, warm and tidy and as described on the web site. Unfortunately no mention is made that you cannot park directly outside of the property. Instead it is 100yds approx.up hill to the designated area. Not good in wet weather - nor for those who are becoming less agile with age.

Very nice and comfy House. We spent 2 weeks here, just about everything is there. If you need a butter dish and bread basket, take them with you :-) Wardrobe space is restricted, One of the wardrobes is used for storge, so be prepared to leave some of your gear in the suitcases. As in previous reviews mentioned, the door lock is frustrating, especiRead moreally when it's raining! Location is top (I knew that when booking, because I was born and bred nearby) short distances to anywheren the lakes. Hide

Fantastic week in the lakes again, helped by the relatively dry weather. Have stayed in Garth cottage before, and pleased to return. Very cosy and comfortable cottage, beds are great. Nespresso machine and complimentary pods are a nice touch, as is the milk on arrival. Frustrating issue with conservatory key (very sticky and difficult to lock and uRead morenlock), but other than that was perfectly fine. Would say the pricing is rather high for the quality, other apartments in the house offer better value Hide

Lovely accommodation. Beautiful decor well equipped. The location has outstanding views. It's a little way out of Keswick very tranquil area bus stop nearby if required. Favourite walks from the door up into Dodd woods moderate difficulty walk. Go posh short walk for a lovely meal in Lyzzick hall hotel book inadvance.

Stupendous location with views over Bassenthwaite. Very peaceful and tranquil. Unfortunately the inside of the property was a let down. Some cleanliness and maintenance issues need to be addressed before we consider returning next year.
