Fire up the wood burner in the winter months and relax out in the delightful cottage garden in the summer when you stay at this welcoming Lake District holiday home in Backbarrow, 7 miles from Ulverston. Sleeping six guests and two dogs, this three-bedroom property is just 2 miles from Lake Windermere and 7.5 miles from Coniston Water. Head out from here to Lakeland beauty spots and follow footpaths through dramatic and picturesque parts of the national park.

Step through the porch, where you can leave your outerwear, and into the inviting lounge/diner. Settle in here in front of the Smart TV, with Sky TV and BT Sport, or play games together while the wood burner crackles gently in the background. Wander on into the well-equipped kitchen to prepare tasty meals for your party then call everyone to the table in the room next door. At the end of each fun-filled day, climb the stairs to discover a twin bedroom and the family bathroom. A double bedroom, with an en-suite WC, and a super-king-size room, with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins if discussed in advance, are up on the floor above. Take breakfast, lunch and dinner out into the sunshine of the private garden, with its choice of seating areas, during your stay. There is also a small stream running through the garden. There’s also parking for two cars, an electric hook up and bicycle storage at the cottage.

Make your way 2 miles to Lakeside to take a nostalgic steam train through the gorgeous scenery of this southern section of the Lakes. Alternatively, board a cruise here and disembark at piers along the shores of Lake Windermere to undertake walks and see historical sites. Head into Ulverston to browse in its shops, visit the market and dine out.

Very nice cottage which was very well equipped for our two dogs. The garden was lovely and we enjoyed it when weather permitted. The welcome pack and provisions were the nicest Ive seen. We hope to revisit.

Excellent cottage, very clean, good facilities and lovely location. Great to have swimming pool access, my son made full use of this. Very dog friendly. The cottage is in a beautiful setting with fells and ancient woodland right on the doorstep but still within easy access of shops, pubs, hotels and bigger towns. We totally recommend Robin's Nest. The owner was very kind allowing us access to the cottage early as we were travelling quite a distance. He had a fire lit for us so the cottage was lovely and cosy. Robins nest was absolutely perfect in every sense, just what we needed for a wonderful October half term break. And with the added bonus of the amazing welcome hamper and included access to the great facilities at Cascades leisure and health club 2 minutes walk away, Robins nest is first class.

Perfect Home from Home. The owner knew we were travelling a long distance and let us know that the property was ready earlier than the usual time. The welcome hamper was really thoughtful. We spent a week at Robin's Nest in September and unfortunately the weather was against us most days so we spent a lot of time indoors which was made more bearable by the fact that the cottage is so comfortable and has everything you could need. This cottage is deceptively spacious and was presented spotlessly clean. Everything you could think of was provided and very clear instructions left by the owner. Sadly we wont be returning to this property. Details didnt tell or show you the running water outside the back door. I managed to grab dogs collar before he ventured down the deep drop to the stream. An accident waiting to happen as a child could hurt themselves or worse. Garden not dog secure, our rescue terrier went walk abouts! Great little cottage, superb welcome pack. Easy access to central Lakes with plenty of small local walks. The free pass to the leisure facilities at the local hotel which was a short walk away provided pool, gym, jacuzzi, table tennis etc which made the difference for a wet day. Highly recommend.
