Offering spacious and stylish holiday accommodation for eight guests, this beautifully updated Victorian residence sits close to the northern banks of Bassenthwaite Lake. Situated in the picturesque hamlet of Dubwath, the property offers delightful views of the lake and the mountains, and has a range of features including big bay windows, a wood burner and a pretty garden. Perfect for water sports fans, nature watchers, climbers and hikers, this charming retreat makes a fabulous base for discovering the spellbinding northern corner of the Lake District.

The hallway has oak flooring and stained-glass windows, and leads through to a warm, characterful lounge with a bay window, cosy wood burner and ample seating. The stunning open-plan kitchen/diner has a sweet breakfast bar, chic dining area and additional seating, providing a fantastic space for hearty breakfasts or celebratory meals. On the first floor there’s a stylish marble-walled bathroom and three bedrooms decorated in light pastel shades: a pretty en-suite double, a spacious super-king-size room with views over the lake, and a cheerful king-size room with three steps up to a bathroom. The final bedroom is a king-size suite on the second floor. Set in the eaves of the house, this room has a stylish en-suite bathroom and atmospheric low-level lighting. Outside, the enclosed garden features a courtyard-style patio with outdoor furniture, a chiminea, a table tennis table and steps up to a charming lawn.

Dubwath Silver Meadows Nature Reserve and Bassenthwaite Lake Station are within half a mile, making this a great base for nature spotting, sailing, rowing, kayaking, canoeing, fishing and paddleboarding. The Lakes Distillery (1 mile) and Lake District Wildlife Park (2 miles) are north of Bassenthwaite Lake, with Mirehouse and Gardens (5.5 miles) on the way to the thriving town of Keswick at the head of Derwentwater (8 miles).

We had a lovely time in the Barf Fell cottage. With 8 adults and 1 dog. We made use of the pretty garden and garden furniture with BBQs and drinks. The house has been beautifully renovated. You can walk to the pub and the lake. We had a fabulous week thanks Karen and Tim

From booking to stay everything ran smoothly. The house is in a great location and beautifully presented, very comfortable and relaxing for our party of 6 and 1 dog. Tim was great, answering all our questions and providing some useful local information before arrival. The local Pheasant Inn also highly recommended, but do book as it gets busy. We had a brilliant stay as 2 families of 4 with 2 dogs. The cottage was decorated beautifully and flowed really well. There were several lovely views from the cottage and the location was great. There is a lakeside walk,a meadow walk and a fell walk all out the door. Bassenthwaite Lake Station, a distillery and nice pub also within walking distanceRead more. We went for lots of lovely walks and trips to cockermouth all within 15 mins of the cottage - Keswick and Derwentwater are too. We stayed as a family of 8 with our dog and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was lovely and the owners were very helpful. It was well equipped with everything you would need. House was so comfortable in every way for our three generations. Lots of room and outdoor space with lovely private garden. Parking was easy- EV charging too. Location good near lake and easy access to other areas. We loved the wildlife park and even went to the seaside for the day - St Bees. The house was absolutely ideal for our family group of 6 people. A great location, and so easy to find off the A66. Great parking. The house is wonderfully well appointed throughout, and we did not want for anything throughout the week. The house is exceptional with everything you could possibly need in a beautiful location, easy and ample parking, restful rear garden with bbq, table tennis, bike storage and lovely seating area. We had a wonderful time. The house was really beautiful and spacious with great back garden with outdoor furniture and table tennis table. The location was also great roughly halfway between Cockermouth and Keswick and a very handy bus stop to both just metres from the house. Fab property. Location was great, and we loved sitting around the large table playing Uno and watching the birds at the garden feeder. This is a gorgeous property in a fantastic location. The owners replied quickly to any messages I sent. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and the views of the area are amazing. There are loads of local walks, but you only have to travel a short away to get even more options. Even though it's close to the road it was peaceful.
