Set in the picturesque village of Eskdale, this is a fantastic holiday cottage offering self-catering accommodation with wonderful views of the Eskdale Fells. Handy for both the pub and the village shop, there are also hundreds of walks right from the front door either on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk, which flows from the top of the valley down to the estuary at Ravenglass, an old fishing village complete with a ruined Roman bath-house. The river has natural pools for swimming and is a popular place for canoeing and fishing.

The famous Ravenglass and Eskdale Miniature Railway runs along the valley, its steam trains making the leisurely seven-mile journey down to the sea - Irton Road station is just a short walk from the cottage and the trains can be seen from the terrace.

There are five pubs in Eskdale, one of which is just a 5-minute walk away, all welcoming children and serving real ales and a wide choice of good food. The village shop is just a 10-minute walk away and sells a comprehensive range of goods, including groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go, newspapers and outdoor equipment and clothing. There is reception for mobile phones on the Orange network and some reception for mobiles using other networks.

The door leads to a small porchway area for taking off boots and coats and leads into a kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is equipped with electric cooker, microwave, fridge and dishwasher.

The downstairs lounge has sofa and chairs, TV and radio/CD player and DVD. There is a separate laundry room with a washing machine, tumble dryers and drying rack. This is shared with other properties. A welcome pack of milk, tea and coffee is provided to start you off on your holiday.

The cottage next door sleeps four and both cottages are available for hire together to accommodate parties of eight who wish to share a holiday together. Parking is available next to the property or further on road parking available on the lane in front.

Cottage in a good location for southern fells. Plenty of parking at the cottage and helpful neighbours. Weather could have been better but at least there were a couple of complete jigsaws to pass the time whilst it rained.
