The sofa also offers further sleeping arrangements, as it can be converted to a sofa bed for two children. Rustle up some tasty treats in the compact kitchen and enjoy your efforts seated at the breakfast bar before freshening up in the contemporary en-suite shower room. Perfectly placed to enjoy far-reaching rural views, the sumptuous double bed promises a restful night’s sleep. Outside, the small, furnished raised deck, larger, gravelled area below with a picnic bench and enclosed lawn, provides plenty of space for you to make the most of alfresco living. Private parking is available for one car.

The Smardale Gill Nature Reserve, accessible from the doorstep, offers the opportunity to spot red squirrels and rare butterflies, as well as magnificent views of Smardale Gill Viaduct (1.5 miles). The iconic Coast to Coast walk is just half a mile away, perfect for keen walkers and cyclists. Venture to the bustling market town of Kirkby Stephen (2.5 miles) to explore its cobbled yards lined with a variety of fabulous local shops, or head to Appleby-in-Westmorland (14 miles) to discover its 17th-century castle. The extraordinary limestone pavements of Great Asby Scar are 10 miles away, and Great Shunner Fell, Wild Boar Fell, Nine Standards Rigg and Sunbiggin Tarn are all also within 10 miles.
