This stone-built Lakeland cottage in Ambleside offers the perfect base for families and friends seeking somewhere to spend special time together and create unforgettable holiday memories. At the northern end of Windermere, the market town of Ambleside is surrounded by magnificent scenery at the heart of the Lake District National Park. This area offers some wonderful walking and cycling opportunities, a haven for keen outdoor explorers and nature lovers. Thrill seekers can tackle one of England's most challenging cycle routes, 'The Struggle', 400 metres above Ambleside on the highest road in the Lake District. Those looking for peace and tranquillity can stroll through Rothay Park (0.5 miles), over the stepping stones and to Rydal Water and Caves (2.5 miles), a scenic route with plenty of picnic spots along the way.

Set out over three floors, a long entrance hallway greets you and leads into the bright and airy lounge, which boasts a beautiful bay window that floods this cosy space with natural light. Location is fantastic and super close to amenities. House is nice and big for families and super quiet area of town you literally only hear the birds tweeting. Lovely view from house of surrounding areas. House has everything you need for a weeks stay although we mostly ate out but had a teapot which was thoroughly used. A fantastic week in beautiful Oakroyd, our home from home. We high recommend Tap Yard if wisiting with your furry friend. Mixed bag of weather but that didn't stop us exploring Ambleside and beyond. The perfect week.

Well located and beautiful holiday home. Comfy beds and sofa. Classy Ercol furniture, and even a cellar room which was used for a studying member of our group, Fantastic walks accessible from the home. I did get a parking ticket for staying more than an hour in a parking space outside the property, which was an annoyance. So even if the town car paRead morerks are very busy, it is worthwhile waiting to park in them and use the parking pass supplied. Overall a wonderful stay, Thank you Hide

Had a lovely time here. Very convenient for great pastry shops for breakfast and the Apple Pie shop and many great walks from the doorstep. Introducing the Lake District to my sons and showing them round childhood places I know. They loved it and we plan to re-visit soon.

Thank you for such a lovely stay. We loved the location, you could not be more central and it was lovely to walk into Ambleside for a coffee or food. Oakroyd was as lovely as the photos. Very convenient, spacious and clean accommodation. Great eateries and walks from the doorstep. Parking was included with passes for one on-road outside property and one additional for local car parks. Recommend using on-road car if returning in afternoon as car parks can get quite busy, but never an issue for us. Friendly and helpful hosts.
