This idyllic stone cottage is on the outskirts of Keswick. The town is known as the adventure capital of the Lakes, and this three-bedroom retreat makes a great base for families and friends who love getting out and about in nature. The surrounding area is awash with scenic walking trails to explore, from the waterside path around Derwentwater (1 mile) to the challenging routes to the summit of Skiddaw (5 miles) and Blencathra (7.5 miles).
Step inside the chocolate-box cottage and into the hallway, where you can store all your outdoor gear. Grab a book from the bookshelf, and head through to the inviting lounge to unwind next to the cosy wood burner or watch the Smart TV. The social hub of the house is a bright, open-plan kitchen/diner with underfloor heating and everything needed to cook and dine together. Just off the kitchen/diner is a gorgeous snug area with a sofa and wood burner-effect gas fire. A handy utility room rounds off the ground floor. Upstairs, three tranquil bedrooms await, all with calming decor and beautiful wooden furniture. One of the bedrooms has an en-suite shower room, and you’ll also have a separate shower room and a bathroom with a roll-top bath. Outside, the walled cottage garden has outdoor furniture and boasts fabulous fell views. Private parking is available for one car.
Keswick is a vibrant tourist town with an impressive range of independent pubs and restaurants, along with cute boutiques and galleries to potter around. You’ll find many companies offering outdoor adventure activities and, when the weather isn’t on your side, spend a fascinating afternoon at one of the museums. Further afield, take a day trip to beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake, go mountain biking in Whinlatter Forest, or enjoy a spot of retail therapy in the colourful market town of Cockermouth (all within 12 miles).
