An impressive, reverse-level retreat, this Ambleside cottage boasts stylish interiors and far-reaching views. Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom hideaway benefits from an enviable position within the Lakeland town, close to friendly pubs, interesting shops and a variety of eateries. Stroll less than 1 mile down to the shores of Windermere at Waterhead. Wander beside the lake, explore the National Trust's Stagshaw Gardens and see the remains of a Roman fort. You can also take a cruise out on the magnificent lake to absorb the magnificent scenery from the water or choose to hire your own rowing or motor boat to head out by yourselves. Lace up your walking boots and venture 1.5 miles up Wansfell Pike, where you will be rewarded with views of Windermere, Langdale Pikes and the surrounding verdant fells. Hike just over 2 miles to Rydal Cave, pausing to cross the River Rothay via the stepping stones.

Take five steps to reach the front door and make your way inside to find accommodation that has been beautifully renovated in collaboration with a local architect and presents numerous bespoke design touches. Find yourselves in the light-filled, dual-aspect lounge/kitchen/diner, with its open-plan living space and incredible picture windows. Unwind in here and take in the far-reaching views as you chat and make plans for the following day. Settle down in front of the Smart TV for a spell before heading over to the stylish kitchen space to prepare the next delicious home-cooked meal. Start dinner bubbling, then pull a chilled bottle from the wine fridge and pause at the breakfast bar in the central island to wait for your dishes to be ready. One of your bedrooms, an inviting double, is also conveniently located at this level, together with a family shower room. The remaining bedroom and bathroom accommodation is downstairs at lower-ground-floor level. Here you will find an airy twin, with the luxury of an en-suite shower, plus a bright, double-aspect king-size room where you will awake to spectacular fell views. A chic, contemporary family bathroom, with a bath, shower and underfloor heating, is also here, together with a handy laundry or utility room.

With two separate seating areas, there is plenty of choice when it comes to enjoying the fresh air. The sunny front deck features a glass balustrade to ensure you can make the most of the views, while the sheltered lower patio is ideal for outside dining. The views from this property are spectacular, the large living area windows presented an ever changing, picturesque scene that a joy every day. The cottage was comfortable and well equiped. Parking was a little awkward in the dark, but had plenty of space. Very close to ambleside centre, although on quite the incline, it was a great base for our weRead moreek away. Hide
