Sleeping two people in one bedroom, it's perfect for couples in search of a serene retreat to call home while they explore the Lake District together. You'll have all the attractions of Ambleside on your doorstep, including the pretty 17th-century Bridge House (0.5 miles) and the magnificent Stock Ghyll Force waterfall (1 mile). Head to Rydal Mount (2 miles) to learn all about William Wordsworth or make a beeline to Grasmere (4 miles) to follow the 3-mile trail around the lake and sample the town's famous gingerbread. Set off for Ambleside's Waterhead Pier and climb aboard a cruise to Lakeside or Bowness-on-Windermere. When it's time to call it a night, an inviting king-size bed beckons, served by an en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower and WC – perfect for washing away a day on the fells.

From the living space, spill outside to the covered seating area and gather for peaceful morning coffees and al fresco evening meals. Lovely property, well thought out with parking right outside the door. Its up a steep hill when walking back from town so be prepared for this. Interior is nice, clean but the sofa and bed could do with being updated. The chair is a waste of space and would recommend a 3 seater sofa. The bed is very creaky and uncomfortable and needs replaced. And Read morethat's the reason for the score of 4 and if these were addressed I would stay again. Furniture could do with updating and would have got 5 stas Hide

The property has a lot of good points, it's in a convenient but quiet location, it's cosy and warm yet light and airy, has easy parking right outside and is good value for money. However we felt that it was let down by some uncomfortable furniture. The small sofa is fine but the chair is particularly uncomfortable. The mattress, described as being Read more'plush', is actually noisy and on its last legs. Also we had to be careful with the shower as the water easily spills over the base and onto the floor unless you remove the cover over the plug hole. Hide
