A beautiful retreat in an enviable position between Bowness and Windermere, this delightful apartment is perfect for couples and small families. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom holiday home encompasses the two upper floors of a Victorian house. In a great location for shops, pubs and restaurants, it is 0.5 miles from the shores of Windermere, where lake cruises can be boarded and rowing boats can be hired. Find fabulous walks in the area too. Orrest Head, famous as the first viewpoint visited by author and walker Alfred Wainwright in 1930, and School Knott Tarn, with its incredible views over Windermere, are 1.5 miles away. Take a steam train from Bowness to Lakeside, taking in the splendid scenery as you go. Plan an afternoon in Ambleside, 5 miles away, with its independent shops, or to the National Trust's Fell Foot, with its gentle strolls and beauty spots for paddling and picnicking.

Climb five steps to step into the duplex apartment via the main front door. Enter the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which is filled with sunshine thanks to its bay window and offers comfortable space to unwind after your busy days. Sink back into the soft seating in the lounge area to enjoy the airy ambience as you chat about your excursions or settle down to a good TV show or DVD film. An open archway means the kitchen/diner end of the space flows smoothly on from the lounge. Chat to your friends and family as you rustle up the next meal or snack. Gather round the table to dine together and linger here long into the evening, just enjoying each other's company. There is also a handy WC downstairs. When you are ready for a superb night's sleep, climb the stairs to the upper level of the apartment, where your king-size and twin bedrooms are situated. We had a lovely stay in this gorgeous cottage. Everything was just perfect. Very clean and very quiet. We were very lucky as we had gorgeous weather. I can recommend using the open top bus (555) to get about. We visited Ambleside + Grasmere on it. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

Sweet apartment but a few things would make it a five . Dishwasher needed as the utensils were sticky from previous guests and it's more hygienic all round . The TV is awful needs updating ! Water needs to be hotter and the sofas need replacing . Needs to be more holiday let rather than long term rental feel. Also it is an apartment not a house as Read morethere is no access out to back and no garden space . It's on a lovely street but when travelling alone a bolt on the door would be more assuring than just a lock . Hide

Really lovely house, very spacious, clean & airy. The photos don't do justice. Decorated in a quaint way. Fully equipped kitchen, everything provided. Daisy Cottage was absolutely perfect for us, a real home away from home. It was spacious but cosy, immaculate and in a great location 5 mins from both Windermere and Bowness. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed.
