An impressive stone cottage, this Lake District retreat makes an exceptional getaway for all seasons. Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom holiday home offers superb inside and outside space from its position at Colthouse on the outskirts of the village of Hawkshead. Famous for its connections to children's author Beatrix Potter and renowned English poet William Wordsworth, Hawkshead is popular with those eager to be close to the lakes of Windermere and Coniston, as well as Esthwaite. Visit the National Trust's Hill Top Beatrix Potter House, 2 miles away, to see where she gained inspiration for her colourful tales. Walk or drive 3.5 miles down to the Claife Viewing Station with its waterside paths and spectacular views out across Windermere. Head 5.5 miles into Ambleside to meander through its interesting shops, dine out in its eateries and stroll less than 1 mile to Waterhead to board a lake cruise on Windermere.

Let yourselves into the three-storey property to find spacious, welcoming accommodation that presents a wealth of original barn features, including exposed beams. The well-appointed kitchen has been designed to ensure you can prepare and store all the tasty Cumbrian produce you have shopped for with ease. Carry your dishes through to the open-plan lounge/diner when you are ready to serve up. Light the wood burner in here so it throws out a cosy glow across the room as you enjoy your holiday meal. Amble over to the comfortable sofas afterwards to relax together after a day brimming with adventure. There is a Smart TV in here to ensure you don't miss out on your favourite shows while you're away. When you are ready to rest and recuperate, climb the stairs to the upper levels, where your bedrooms and bathrooms are situated. The first floor encompasses two attractive bedrooms, a twin with charming sloped ceilings and some limited head height, and a king bedroom. These rooms share a modern shower room. Another king-size is on the second floor, where it enjoys a magnificent beamed and vaulted ceiling, plus a private seating area for late-night reading and a chic en-suite shower room. Wake up to picturesque garden views in this special sanctuary.

Whenever the sun shines, make the most of the outstanding garden. Dine on the patio, take in the glorious scenery about you and listen to the sound of the running beck. Guests benefit from private off-road parking for two cars.

A beautiful property in an excellent location. The weather was very wet so we were unable to enjoy the garden. The owner was very responsive to any questions particularly the heating as it was an air source pump. Worked perfectly tho and maintained a comfortable temperature. Thank you

The cottage was very clean, nicely decorated and well-equipped. Its location in the attractive hamlet of Colthouse is a fifteen minute walk away from the picturesque village of Hawkshead, and a short drive away from the beautiful Tarn Hows and towns of Ambleside and Windermere. A great location in stunning countryside

A great cottage, closely situated to Hawkshead. When the weather is nice, the outdoor furniture is perfect for al fresco dining and drinks. When it isnt, the cottage is cosy and warming. A lovely stay
