Although a rural setting, it is perfectly placed less than 3.5 miles from picturesque, car-free Hawkshead, where you'll find a variety of eateries along with galleries and shops. Nearby Ambleside Pier, 3.5 miles, is the launch point for scenic boat trips on Windermere. Bring your hiking boots as there are plenty of walks nearby, from the gentler slopes of Loughrigg Fell to the challenging Cat Bell, within 10 miles. Brockhole on Windermere, 5 miles away, is the gateway to a range of activities on and off the water. Alternatively, head 6 miles to Grizedale Forest, where you'll find mountain bike and walking trails for all abilities, amidst breathtaking woodland scenery.

Access to this characterful cottage is via steps to the entrance, where you'll step into the long hallway with ample space to hang your outdoor coats. When it is time to eat, head over to the dining/kitchen area at one end, where you'll find all the necessary appliances to rustle up dinner. Natural light pours in through the double doors leading to the rear courtyard patio. On the ground floor, you can sleep soundly in the delightful twin bed, providing flexible sleeping arrangements for your stay. The first floor is reached by wooden stairs from the hallway and features a family bathroom and two further bedrooms, one double with lovely views across the garden to the fields beyond and one twin.

Step outside into the south-facing, rear courtyard patio area with furniture to unwind. You can enjoy a stroll or bike ride through the beautiful 51-acre shared grounds, or picnic along the half a mile of private lake access (unfenced) with glorious views across Windermere to the fells. The cottage is in a beautiful location: easy access to Ambleside and Hawkshead and in beautiful grounds. It is a good size but would benefit from more kitchen equipment.

We all loved the open-plan downstairs living area/diner/kitchen. The beautiful quality curtains enhanced the cosiness in the evening.
