This idyllic Lakeland cottage is in the charming market town of Ambleside, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the southern Lake District. The property welcomes four guests, with a third bedroom offering alternative sleeping arrangements, making it suitable for families, couples, and groups of friends. Head into the village to explore the collection of independent shops and eateries, before embarking on a scenic stroll along the river to Stock Ghyll Force or following the heritage trail to learn more about the town's fascinating past. Other nearby walking routes include the Fairfield Horseshoe, Loughrigg, and Wansfell. The town sits at the northern end of Windermere, and from Waterhead Pier you can join one of the cruises to explore the area from the water. Further afield, enjoy days out to Grizedale Forest or Coniston Water (both within 10 miles).

The traditional cottage carefully combines characterful original features, such as stone walls and slate flooring, with contemporary decor and an array of homely touches. Enter the cottage directly into the inviting lounge, where two plump sofas are set around a TV and a cosy wood burner-effect electric fire – the perfect place to unwind after a day of outdoor adventure. To the rear of the cottage is a country-style kitchen where you can rustle up delicious home-cooked feasts to share around the cute dining table. Upstairs, two elegant bedrooms await – a double and a twin – with calming decor and plush linens for a good night's sleep. The top floor of the cottage houses a cosy single bedroom, providing an alternative sleeping space for a fourth guest, along with the contemporary family bathroom. Please note, the second floor has a sloping ceiling, and you may experience restricted head height in some areas.

From the kitchen, a door opens onto an enclosed courtyard garden where you'll find furniture for outdoor dining on balmy summer evenings. A parking permit for nearby car parks is provided.

We had a lovely time in Ambleside. The cottage was easy to find and exactly like the photos. As per other reviews the bathroom is on the second floor but going up the stairs was not an issue for our family. We would visit again.

The cottage was easy to find and immaculately clean on our arrival. The kitchen is very well equipped with modern appliances including a useful washer/ drier. The location is quiet but extremely close to local amenities- shops, cafs, hill walks, bus station and park. We all really enjoyed our stay and would happily return for another visit.

Had a wonderful stay at this property! The location is perfect - centre of Ambleside within walking distance of all the shops and local food places. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need to prepare food, which made my stay very convenient. Having a parking permit is a huge plus, especially in this busy area. The parking permit allowRead mores parking on the road close to the property as well as many local car parks. Also the wifi is great. However, be aware that the property has steep stair cases and the bathroom is up two steep flights of stairs at the very top of the property. It wasn't a big issue for me, but it can be difficult for the elderly of those who are less mobile. Despite this, the family enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place for its comfort and excellent location. The only criticism I have is that the floors in the kitchen and living room were not completely clean. Despite this the place is tidy, well equipped for a family and we would stay again! Hide
