This delightful cottage on the outskirts of the charming village of Dalston offers one or two guests a stylish base within easy reach of Carlisle, the Solway Coast and the Lake District. Discover riverside walks, nature reserves and historic landmarks, then relax in the pretty garden or beside the wood burner.

Full of character and style, the cottage boasts an open-plan living space where a wood burner forms the focal point, surrounded by comfortable seating for easygoing nights in. Pick up a book from the shelves, play some music or stream a show on the Smart TV for entertainment. At the opposite end of the room, the attractive kitchen area includes a microwave and a dishwasher for convenience, with a small dining table for two close by. A distinctive spiral staircase leads from the kitchen to the upper floor. Here you’ll find a tranquil twin bedroom, decorated in pale tones, and featuring an exposed-stone wall, ample storage and a TV. The bathroom features a shower over the bath, and has a utility cupboard containing a washer/dryer. Outside, a delightful patio provides seating for al fresco meals, with access to a shared lawn. Private parking is available for two cars.

Dalston is a quaint village surrounded by delightful countryside, including lovely walks along the River Caldew. As well as several shops it has a choice of places to eat, and it’s just 5 miles from Carlisle, where there are plenty more opportunities for retail therapy and dining indulgence, as well as historic sites including the cathedral, citadel and castle. Carlisle Racecourse is only 2.5 miles away, while the nature reserves at Watchtree and South Solway Mosses are both within 14 miles. The unmissable scenery of the Lake District can be reached within 16 miles.

Joan and Bob were very welcoming, lots of tasty treats left for us. Had a lovely break.
