Located in a lovely rural spot in the quieter northern reaches of the Lake District, this beautifully finished hideaway is ideal for a solo or romantic escape. Set on a working farm, the sweet one-bed property enjoys direct access to walking routes across the Caldbeck Fells, an unspoilt and peaceful corner of the national park. The pretty village of Caldbeck (5.5 miles), has a pub, a shop and a café, while the lively market town of Keswick (17.5) has everything you need for shopping and eating.

Four steps lead up to the front door, leading to a bright and thoughtfully designed open-plan living space that makes excellent use of every inch. Wood panelled throughout, the hut feels homely inside, with curtains and elegant wooden fittings. The kitchenette is well equipped for straightforward meals with its small hob, and there’s a breakfast bar for tucking into meals together. A comfortable double bed promises a restful night’s sleep, while the Smart TV is perfect for unwinding after a day outdoors. You’ll also have a stylish shower room with WC. Outside, the private enclosed garden is wonderful for al fresco dining, with seating, a BBQ and fire pit. Private parking is available for two cars.

The surrounding area is a dream for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Bassenthwaite Lake (6 miles), is renowned for its wildlife, while on Derwentwater (18 miles) you can enjoy boating, kayaking and other water-based activities. Whinlatter Forest (19 miles) is well known for its mountain biking trails. For a slower-paced outing, Mirehouse and Gardens (13 miles), dating back to the 17th century, is open to visitors during the season.
