Art Deco enthusiasts won’t know whether to admire the stunning views from the garden and patio of this six-bed property or turn around and look at the house instead. It’s pristine both inside and out. Retaining many original features, the interiors seamlessly marry them with up-to-date styling, period furnishings and modern touches for a luxurious feel. What’s more, this North Lakes property is family-friendly and welcomes dogs, making it a wonderful base from which an extended family or two families can explore the Lake District National Park.

Curl up on a sofa in front of a wood burner in either the double lounge or snug and admire the breathtaking views through the equally beautiful symmetry of the original 1930s Crittall windows. Use the Aga to cook up a feast in the spacious kitchen that’s a modern refit along classic lines, or enjoy a drink at the island. There’s a table seating 12 in the bright and airy dining room with doors leading outside. Feel the glamour of the 1930s as you ascend the wonderful staircase to the individually styled bedrooms with their boutique feel. They provide versatile accommodation, as the two super-king-size bedrooms have zip-and-link beds that can be twin beds instead. The remaining four are king-size bedrooms. The terrace can seat 12 for al fresco feasts, plus there’s a slightly sunken terrace with comfortable furnishings, plus 4 acres of enclosed gardens.

Keswick and Derwentwater Lake are 3 miles away for a spot of retail therapy, kayaking or canoeing. If you’re feeling energetic, you can access Skiddaw, Latrigg and Carlisle fells on foot from this white gem of a property. Or walk through the woods behind the house to Mirehouse and Gardens (2 miles) which are both worth a visit year-round.

  • 6 bedrooms – 2 super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into twins on request) and 1 four-poster king-size, and 3 king-size

Excellent property and the art deco appearance was fantastic. The children loved the table tennis option in the dining room. We had terrible weather as is expected in the Lakes but I think return in the summer with the South facing terrace would be magnificent with those stunning views.
