This inviting cottage is perfectly suited to families or friends looking for a tranquil escape in the stunning Lake District. Spend your days on coastal strolls, country walks and scenic train journeys, and return to enjoy panoramic rural views from the garden or cosy nights by the wood burner.

Gather in the welcoming lounge, where pretty colours, country-style furnishings and a wood burner will make you feel wonderfully at home. For quiet evenings in, you can switch on the Smart TV and enjoy your favourite shows or a movie marathon. In the open-plan kitchen/diner, glass patio doors bring in plenty of daylight and frame views of the surrounding landscape. The kitchen includes a microwave, freezer and dishwasher, while the wooden dining table provides plenty of space for shared meals and games. Upstairs, three beautifully designed and handsomely furnished bedrooms share an elegant family bathroom. For fresh air and al fresco drinks and meals, the garden includes both lawn and a furnished patio, and offers uninterrupted country views.

The quiet village of Waberthwaite is home to one of the oldest family-run firms in the country, which is renowned for its traditionally cured hams, bacon and sausages. Just 1.5 miles away, you can jump on the traditional Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway for a trip through gorgeous Lake District countryside. Head to the seaside fishing village of Haverigg, 5 miles, for a long beach that’s great for an invigorating stroll or even some sandcastle building, or to Eskdale, 6 miles, for stunning fell scenery on the walking trails along the River Esk to Stanley Ghyll Force and the Hardknott Roman Fort.
