This beautiful holiday home is a pretty Lakeland stone house built in 1849 and now completely renovated, equipped and furnished to a very high standard with two spacious and comfortable reception rooms, two contemporary shower rooms, and three beautifully furnished bedrooms. With an enclosed patio garden for outdoor dining, you'll find it ticks all the boxes for a family or small group break. Quiet peaceful location yet only minutes from all Keswick’s sights and amenities.

Keswick is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts whether it's fell walking, cycling, water-sports or adrenaline fuelled adventure you're looking for. Walkers are spoiled with everything from iconic Lakeland giants to gentle lakeside ambles available right from the door. Why not take on mighty Skiddaw during your stay? Or try the gentle 10 mile walk round Derwentwater, there's the opportunity at various points along the way to catch one of the stately launches back to town if you'd rather not do the whole thing.

The town itself is vibrant and friendly with an atmosphere all its own. There's a twice weekly market, a great selection of outdoor and independent shops, even its own art deco cinema just across the road. To keep families amused there is an indoor climbing wall, an excellent playpark is just a short walk from the house while the foodies among you can enjoy a fantastic choice of restaurants, pubs and cafes. You could always take in a play or concert at the magical Theatre by the Lake during your stay. Keswick truly has everything you could wish for from a Lakeland holiday and at the property, it's all on your doorstep.

On arrival at the house you're greeted by a charming porch which leads into the dining room. There's a substantial dining table and chairs, a large map and plenty of local books for planning your days out and the most lovely tiny desk set into an alcove. Moving through to the living room guests will find it an elegant space to relax with exposed floorboards, a richly coloured rug, two deep comfy sofas and a long ottoman bench arranged around a wood burner. There's a Smart TV as well as a Bose sound dock to keep you entertained and a large window for watching the world go by.

Next to the modern well-equipped kitchen which has a built-in fan oven, four gas hobs, dishwasher, microwave and all the crockery and cookware you'll need for your stay, as well as a Nespresso coffee machine. Beyond the kitchen is a handy utility area with a sink, washer/dryer and plenty of space for coats and muddy boots as well a lovely downstairs shower room with mixer shower and WC.

Moving up to the first floor there's a mid-staircase landing where you'll find the indulgent main shower room. It has a contemporary feel about it with slate-effect tiles, large walk-in-style shower area with mixer shower and huge drencher head. You access the three lovely bedrooms from the next landing. The master bedroom has a king-size bed with wooden bedframe, a 'tallboy' style wardrobe with hanging space and drawers, a decorative fireplace along with a delightful window seat and an elegant armchair for relaxing or enjoying a good book. The double bedroom has a distinctive metal bedstead set into an alcove, another tallboy wardrobe, its own decorative fireplace and a view to the church spire across the way. Lastly to the charming twin bedroom, this has two wood frame single beds, a wardrobe for storage and a view over the town's rooftops to Skiddaw in the distance.

To the front of the cottage is a gravelled area with a stone bench, perfect for watching the world go by with your morning cuppa. At the back of the cottage you'll find the enclosed, stone flagged patio. With distinctive quirky signs and outdoor furniture, this is ideal for enjoying a spot of al fresco dining.

A casserole dish with a lid would be useful. We decided that life would be easier in the kitchen if the door was removed as its a nuisance when accessing the fridge - but Im sure not everyone would agree, its just a thought!

Vergers Cottage is a delightful cottage, and we are happy to thoroughly recommend it. It is near the centre of Keswick, yet off the main beaten track, so in a quieter situation. It is very well equipped - we felt the owners had considered carefully what visitors would need. The only downsides are that the back garden is a back court, and it has no Read moreparking. We found on street parking reasonably close, and able bodied visitors will not mind that. Hide
