Relish the peace and quiet at this quaint two-bed cottage surrounded by beautiful Cumbrian countryside. Located in the peaceful village of Croglin in the Eden Valley, you can use it as a base for exploring the Pennines and the Lake District National Park while enjoying the tranquil ambience of this rural retreat. Get your boots on and walk with your canine companion during the day and, at night, head outside for some serious stargazing or just relax by the cosy wood burner. This comfortable property would equally appeal to one or two couples or a small family.

This stone cottage is pretty outside, with a wooden decorative porch welcoming you through the door to the open-plan living/dining room. Ensure you have a towel to hand for the dog in the useful interior porch. The lounge is packed with character, with beams on the ceiling, a wood burner in a stone inglenook and wooden floors. There’s a table seating four where you can tuck into holiday feasts prepared in the small but perfectly formed kitchen. The modern family bathroom is downstairs too. The bedrooms are versatile with one double and one twin which can become a super-king-size on request. Both are welcoming and relaxed spaces with wood-panelled ceilings and neutral decor for a restful night. There’s a small unfenced area outside with a bistro table and gorgeous views over the fields for a drink any time of the day.

There are walks aplenty from the village of Croglin itself. Carlisle is 16 miles away if you need to stock up on serious supplies. Otherwise, the Lake District and Hadrian’s Wall are all within 20 miles. Armathwaite village (6 miles) has a station on the famous Carlisle to Settle railway if you feel like hopping aboard your own holiday express!

This cottage is very small the photographs dont show the small scale. The parking for 1 car is not part of the cottage and may not be available. The weather was pretty cold w/c 16th Feb and poor heating and wood for 1 fire not adequate. There is no garden but a table and chair and bench out the front. The village is picturesque and views really lovRead moreely and surrounding villages pretty. Advising no shops or eating areas within walking distance. The joined next door neighbours were very helpful. Luckily groceries bought with us. Can recommend The Duke of Cumberland Pub/Restaurant in Castle Carrock. Lovely interior, great service and the food delicious. Hide

The cottage needs a proper deep clean. While the bedding and towels were clean, the whole cottage was dusty and there were lots of cobwebs. The bathroom needs some attention. The 'welcome pack' was long life milk and a packet of cookies and saying it was decorated for Christmas was a stretch. We have stayed in the area a lot over the last few yeaRead morers to visit family and this was disappointing, mainly because it wouldn't take much effort to change but it felt like it was just a money maker. The village location and the views were lovely. Hide

Cosy cottage, well equipped, clean and comfortable to stay in, in a lovely green location, within a good distance to many point of interest. We spent a very nice week here and made lots of lovely memories exploring the nearby area.
