This attractive stone cottage is located in the charming village of Pooley Bridge, a postcard-pretty Lake District village with a relaxed, welcoming feel. The two-bed home is a wonderful base for small groups of family or friends to explore the national park. As well as excellent walking and cycling opportunities, the Ullswater steamer is just a 350 metre walk away (weather dependent), with stops at Howtown, Aira Force and Glenridding – it’s certainly a relaxed way to experience one of England’s most beautiful lakes.
You’ll enter this welcoming riverside cottage into a long hallway lined with books for a cosy, library-like feel. This leads through to a bright kitchen with lovely views down the garden and everything needed for easy self-catering. A door opens directly outside, so you can let in the fresh air while cooking or sipping your morning coffee. The open-plan living and dining room has a picture window overlooking the garden, comfortable sofas, a TV/DVD player and a wood burner to keep you all toasty. Head upstairs to find two inviting bedrooms – a king-size and a twin – along with a modern family bathroom. Outside, the garden has hillside views and a patio for al fresco dining, a lawn bordered by mature flowers and shrubs. You’ll have direct access to the river so you can sit back and simply watch the water drift by. As for parking, there are free spots in the village or you can pay to park in one of three nearby car parks (the nearest is 150 metres away).
