The serenity is unparalleled at this remote Cumbrian cottage – a wonderful choice for friends and families eager to explore England’s dramatic northern countryside. Perfectly positioned for adventure, the property sits within easy reach of the North Pennines (10 miles), the Northumberland National Park (16 miles), the Lake District (20 miles) and Hadrian’s Wall Country (13 miles). Up to six guests are invited to hop on their bikes or lace up their walking boots to explore before returning home to soothe aching muscles by the wood burner or in the private hot tub.
On arrival, park in one of three private spaces and step inside, leaving coats and boots in the porch. The welcoming farmhouse-style kitchen/diner features a traditional Range, keeping things toasty all year round. One of two double bedrooms with en-suite wet rooms is also on this floor, while the first floor hosts a twin room and a family bathroom. Upstairs, a charming two-part living space provides plenty of room to unwind. Separated by a stone wall, one side features a cosy wood burner and the other a Smart TV – ideal for relaxed evenings in. In warmer months, step outside to enjoy the enclosed garden, furnished with seating and a private hot tub (additional charge applies).
Despite its peaceful rural position, the market town of Brampton is only 5 miles away, while Carlisle lies just 8 miles further, offering shops, pubs and attractions. From Carlisle, set off along the River Eden towards Bowness-on-Solway (20 miles), marking the start of the Solway Coast National Landscape and the western end of Hadrian’s Wall. Cyclists will love following the National Cycle Route 72, which weaves through Cumbria’s rugged countryside and stunning scenery.
