Gather your favourite humans (and dogs!) and escape to this spacious Lake District retreat, set in the peaceful surroundings of the Duddon Valley. With room for up to ten guests, it’s an ideal base for families or groups looking to slow down and make the most of the great outdoors. You’ll find a wealth of walking routes right from the doorstep, with forests, rivers and rock pools waiting to be explored. The nearest pub is 3 miles away in Seathwaite, while Broughton-in-Furness (4.5 miles) has shops, pubs and a café serving home-cooked food.
This handsome double-fronted stone house is laid out over three storeys, blending character features like slate floors, oak floorboards and original beams with all the comforts you need. There are two entrances, including a handy side door for muddy boots, and plenty of space to unwind. You’ll have a well-equipped kitchen/diner with a wood burner, double oven and large dresser, plus a cosy lounge with a second wood burner and Smart TV. Upstairs, four bedrooms occupy the first floor (including two en-suite rooms, both accessed via steps), alongside an additional shower room. The top floor attic provides a relaxed sitting area with TV and a final kingsize bedroom. Outside, relax in the large lawned garden which comes with a pretty summer house (please note: the garden is only partially enclosed). A stream and wooded area sit beyond the garden, along with a pond hidden behind rhododendrons, so children and dogs should be supervised. Private parking for two cars, an electric vehicle charging point, and additional on-street parking opposite the house complete the setup.
Beyond the property, you’ll find plenty to see and do in this beautiful corner of the Lake District. Head to Millom (10 miles) to visit its folk museum, or make your way to Ravenglass (11 miles) to hop aboard the miniature steam railway through Eskdale. If you like a challenge, Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, is around 15 miles away.
