Your Lakeland adventure begins in Ambleside, where incredible views and exceptional walking routes await throughout an unforgettable stay. This charming stone cottage sits at the foot of Wansfell Pike, just 300 metres from the town's main road, where independent shops, pubs and eateries line the delightful high street. With space for five guests and two dogs, it's a cheerful home-from-home for families or friends. Brimming with Cumbrian character, the property retains plenty of original features - including the pot sink in the cellar, perfect for washing muddy boots after a day on the fells.

From the doorstep, take in the spectacular fell views before stepping inside. A welcoming lounge awaits, where soft seating is arranged around a wood burner and TV for cosy evenings in. Continue through the hallway to find the dining room and kitchen - two separate yet easily connected spaces for effortless mealtimes. Upstairs, three bedrooms provide versatile sleeping arrangements: a king-size on the first floor, and a twin and single tucked away on the second floor. A bright, refreshing family bathroom completes the interior. Outside, a sloping lawned garden invites you to savour the sunshine, furnished with ample seating and a summerhouse. Private parking for one car adds further convenience.

A garden gate opens directly onto a public footpath leading up Wansfell Pike (1.5 miles), making it easy to conquer the fell without straying far from home. Just 1 mile away, the vast Lake Windermere offers endless opportunities for adventure - from scenic cruises and kayaking to paddleboarding, wild swimming, or a simple stroll along its shores. On your way, pause to admire rare plants and blooms at the idyllic Stagshaw Gardens (1 mile), before continuing to the bustling town of Windermere (4.5 miles).

The cottage was comfortable and very well provided with kitchen equipment and use of the washing machine in the basement was useful. The views from the front of the cottage across the town to the hills beyond were beautiful especially with an overnight snowfall on the peaks. The walk from the top of the garden to Stock Ghyll Force, Wansfell Pike anRead mored Grove Barn Cafe was a real bonus. Would love to stay again Hide

Small and cosy home. Relatively well equipped with the essential dishwasher! Three good sized bedrooms. Ambleside is a great location for walks in the Lake District. Hope your parking skills are good as the space outside is tight.

Such a cosy, warm and very well equipped house. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay , even though the weather was not kind to us. We were able to walk down in to Ambleside a lot quicker than we could walk up ! But was good to be so close to the town. Would love to stay again in this lovely house.
