Property code: OC-SZ326

Sitting in the magnificent Wasdale Valley and surrounded by stunning views you'll find this wonderful Lakeland farmhouse for eight to ten people to escape to. Inside you'll find a great kitchen, living-dining room and bright sun room. Also on the ground floor is a cosy snug. Upstairs on the first floor there are four lovely bedrooms, the family bathroom and shower room. Outside there is parking for two to three cars next to the cottage and a fantastic rear garden with stunning views towards the surrounding fells.

Walkers will rejoice at the choice of routes on offer, from woodland walks and lakeside strolls to high fells, there's something to suit everyone here. Take a walk along country roads down to Wastwater, England's deepest lake, or explore the woods around nearby Nether Wasdale. You can tick off some of the area's most popular fells during your stay including Yewbarrow, Pillar, Buckbarrow and the mighty Great Gable. The well prepared can also tackle Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain. You'll be in need of some refreshments after all that exercise. Just 2.5 miles away in the hamlet of Nether Wasdale are two popular pubs, perfect for a real ale and a hearty meal after a long day out exploring.

Why not spend a day exploring the neighbouring valley of Eskdale? Take a ride on La'al Ratty, the much loved Ravenglass to Eskdale steam railway, and admire the views of the estuary and fells from a different perspective. Plan a visit to Muncaster Castle at Ravenglass; tour the historic house, explore the 77 acres of gardens or take in one of the amazing bird of prey flying displays. Enjoy a walk at remote Devoke Water or head to the South Cumbrian coast. Enjoy a bracing stroll along the beach, taking in the wide open vistas as you go.

The well-equipped kitchen is sure to be a hit with the cooks in the group. In here you'll find a small and large built-in electric oven and four hobs, large full height fridge, separate freezer (this is 3/4 height) and a dishwasher so there's no need to fight over who has to do the washing up! There's also a useful washing machine should you need to make use of this during your stay. The living-dining room has a great mix of character features alongside all the modern comforts you could need. Gather round the dining table and catch up on the day's events over a hearty home cooked meal before moving to relax on the sofas. There's a large TV for entertainment and a selection of books.

Also on the ground floor is a cosy snug, the perfect place to escape to with a good book. A bright sun room makes the most of the fabulous views and completes the downstairs. There's a second TV in here with a DVD player and selection of DVDs, so it's the perfect place to retreat to should rain stop play outside.

Onwards and upwards to the first floor and the four lovely bedrooms. The first bedroom is a delightful double, next up is a spacious king size room, a lovely super-king room and last but by no means least is the cosy twin room (this room can also be made up as a double upon request). All of the bedrooms have fantastic views out towards the surrounding fells, perfect for indulging in a long lie in with a morning cuppa.

Also on the first floor are two bathrooms. The family shower room has a WC, wasbasin and fantastic walk-in shower that's perfect for reinvigorating tired muscles after a day on the fells. There's also a family bathroom with WC, wash basin, separate corner shower and bath so all tastes are catered for here. This bathroom is accessed through the super-king bedroom.

As well as off-road parking for two or three cars, there is a large rear garden. With amazing views, you're sure to be spending a lot of time out here! Take advantage of the garden furniture to enjoy meals al fresco with a stunning backdrop. Don’t forget to look up at the dark skies, you’ll be amazed at how breathtakingly beautiful the night sky looks around here on a clear night.

The cottage is in a wonderful location, only a mile from Wast Water lake and with numerous walks directly accessible from the cottage. It was very clean, tidy and spacious with its own car park. It was well equipped with all expected amenities included - a well equipped kitchen, comfortable seating areas, a snug for a bit of peace and quiet, and cRead moreomfortable beds to fall into at the end of a busy day outdoors. We liked it so much we have already booked a week at the cottage for next year. Hide

We had a lovely stay at low Greendale, perfect location for wastwater and surrounding fells. Beds comfortable and the cottage has everything you might need. The location is remote so planning needed for supplies, nearest supermarket is 16 miles away, but this did not impact our time, just requires planning. Definitely use what three words to find iRead moret as we did get lost initially. I would recommend this place and hope to return sometime. "Response from holidaycottages.co.uk - Thank you for your lovely review, were delighted you enjoyed the location, comfort, and access to Wastwater and the fells. Just to clarify for future guests, the nearest supermarket is the Co-op in Seascale, about 8 miles away, and most major supermarkets do deliver to the property." Hide

Superb location for exploring the Wasdale Valley. The place had all the essentials for a self catering holiday. Good walking in the area, right from the door and access to the coast and Whitehaven if the rain is set in.

Just the most well-equipped cottage in an idyllic location. We loved it. We particularly enjoyed the proper coffee machine! We have visited Greendale many times for the mountains and lakes and it was just the perfect cottage to return to. We will definitely book again. Thank you!
