Just a stone's throw from the centre of the much-loved Lake District town of Keswick lies this beautiful terraced house. Along a quiet row, and sleeping up to four people, it has been refurbished to a very high standard. The owners have taken great care to create a warm, well equipped and stylish cottage providing a perfect jumping off point to explore this fantastic area. The position could scarcely be better as guests here are just a short distance from all the town's amenities.

Keswick has long been known as a wonderful base to explore the Lake District. It's a bustling and vibrant small town with an atmosphere all its own. There's a twice weekly market, a great selection of outdoor and independent shops, even its own art deco cinema and stunningly situated theatre. To keep young families amused there is an excellent playpark and leisure pool a gentle stroll from the house, for the foodies among you a fantastic choice of restaurants, pubs and cafes while the outdoor enthusiasts are spoiled by some of the most beautiful fell walking and cycling to be found anywhere in the country.

For the adventurous visitors the town is blessed with a fantastic array of outdoor instructors at the ready to help you explore your wilder side whether it be ghyll scrambling, paddleboarding, climbing or sailing. It's also a wonderful jumping off point for exploring the area's rich history with Castlerigg's ancient stone circle just a mile's walk from the house and Mirehouse, a stately home with glorious gardens and wonderful literary connections just a short drive along Bassenthwaite's shore. So if you'd like to make the most that all this marvellous area has to offer while staying in a warm and welcoming cottage that has all the town's amenities on its doorstep then you'll certainly love this cottage.

On arrival at the parking area at the rear of the property, guests enter via the back door into a small porch area where there is also a handy downstairs WC. Moving through from here to the well equipped modern kitchen and dining area. This has been beautifully refurbished with light units and chunky wooden dining furniture. The kitchen is well equipped with a fan oven, gas hobs, dishwasher, microwave along with undercounter fridge, freezer and washing machine. There's also a large larder style cupboard which is an ideal place to store boots and wellies from your Lake District adventures.

Onwards to the lovely light living room. This has delightful fresh decor with a deep comfy sofa and two stylish armchairs. There's a gas effect stove set into the large fireplace and a large wall mounted flatscreen TV with DVD. A great space to curl up in front of the fire and read a good book.

Upstairs the owners have created a wonderful calming space with gorgeous decor and lovely soft furnishings through the two bedrooms. The gorgeous high ceilinged master bedroom has a king-size wooden bed frame, a built-in double wardrobe and a dressing table. The window looks out onto the little front garden with its bird table and out onto Latrigg. The comfy twin room has a dresser and built-in wardrobe and looks out to the back of the house. On the first floor is the spacious bathroom with a corner bath and a separate shower enclosure and mixer shower.

Outside the house there is a small front garden area with a bird table, ideal for enjoying a glass of wine on a warm evening. There's also a parking space for one car to the rear.

Nice quiet location, about a 10 minute walk into town - very convenient. No views and not private unless blinds shut. Lane is narrow and parking a bit tight. Cleaning wasn't great, in particular the bath and toilet. Welcome pack was very basic. Had to clean kitchen things before using. Weird, crinkly noisy underlay to carpets made it feel cheap. BeRead mored was warm and comfy. Bedroom makeup lighting inadequate. Room for improvement/updating, but it wasn't terrible and we still had a lovely time :) Cleanliness-2, Equipment-3,Comfort-4,Value for money-3,location-4 Hide

A hairdryer was the only item that wasn't in the property that would have been useful. Other than that we had everything we needed. Plenty of hot water, lovely shower.

Lovely and comfy cottage for a young family of 4. Location was ideal as it was central to explore the Lakes. Took a bus to Bowness-On-Windermere. Loved Keswick park an ideal walking distance for two young children who wanted to play most of the time. Quiet cottage & fully equipped. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at 4 Catherine Cottages. The cottage is a perfect size for a cosy week away. The kitchen is lovely to cook and dine in. The lounge and gas fire make for cosy nights in, and the decor of the cottage is both modern and comfortable. Keswick, its shops, bars and trails are only a short walk away and so convenient. HavRead moreing a car space literally on the doorstep is helpful and once we had arrived, the car didnt move until the journey home! Hide

Brilliant location, great to have off street parking. Cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We picked a bad weather week so the washer/dryer was especially helpful!
