For entertainment there is TV with Freesat and a charming window seat with views out onto Muncaster Fell, Birker and Ulpha Fell beyond. Why not take a seat and enjoy the view of the fells and rolling farmland outside? The new sun room is a warm and comfortable haven for watching the world go by over your morning coffee. You might even catch sight of the La’al Ratty steam engine!

Across the hall to the kitchen/diner which has a traditional stone flagged floor, a comfy armchair and a gorgeous wood burner making for cosy evenings around the wooden dining set planning your Lakeland adventures. The owners have thoughtfully provided a selection of toys, books and games for you to enjoy during your stay. We had an enjoyable stay at Birk How.. The beds were comfy. The sofas were not. Our car (Ford Galaxy) struggled to get up the drive but we did it. When we arrived we had a look around and i was looking for the additional wc and i thought i was going mad. Turns out it is in the outhouse! The house is in a lovely location.

This property is warm and cosy with the most amazing views and outdoor spaces. The kitchen diner is lovely with its wood burning stove along with the generous supply of logs and coal. The village is very pretty with a good village shop and lovely walks on your doorstep. The enclosed garden is great for dogs.

We had a lovely week and this was a good base to explore the Eskdale area. The cottage is well equipped and has many things not normally included. The drive access is steep and narrow but parking on the road is an option down the hill. General cleanliness was good but some areas needed attention. A perfect venue with amazing views, no shortage of equipment. As the weather wasn't very good we appreciated the logs for a lovely fire in the evenings to relax in the comfy sitting room. The sun room was great for a quiet read and to admire the garden and the scenery, superb. A great place to celebrate our 80th birthday with our family.

The cottage location and views are amazing. We took our dog and walked every day in a new direction and found plenty of pubs along the way to enjoy a well earned lunch. Great walk over Muncaster fell to Ravenglass and caught the steam train home. The weather helped but overall a fantastic holiday.
