Property code: OC-SZ399

A traditional Lakeland stone-front cottage from the outside, inside this cottage you'll find bright, contemporary accommodation for eight people and two dogs. There's a wonderful living room, separate dining room and well-equipped kitchen on the ground floor. The four lovely bedrooms and two bathrooms are laid out over the first and second floors. Outside is a small enclosed patio garden with a secure outbuilding, a real bonus so close to the centre of Keswick, and there's plenty of on-street parking nearby.

The bustling market town of Keswick has something for everyone. For those interested in local history, Keswick Museum and Art Gallery is a must, whilst families will love the famous Pencil Museum and the indoor climbing wall at Kong Adventure. There are a great choice of cafes, pubs and retaurants for anything and everything from light lunches to hearty meals and more fine dining. The independent and outdoor shops in the town centre are perfect for a spot of retail therapy.

Keswick is a haven for walkers and there are plenty of different options for all abilities, from lakeside strolls and woodland rambles to longer days out on the fell tops. Walk from the cottage to the mysterious Castlerigg Stone Circle or stroll down to Derwentwater, just 15 minutes away on foot. Why not pack a picnic and walk the circular 10-mile route around the lake? You can always hitch a ride on the launch if you don't fancy walking the whole way. Lace up your walking boots and head up local fell Latrigg for stunning views over the town. Experienced fell walkers can continue onto Skiddaw, England's fourth highest mountain, from here too. However you decide to spend your time in Keswick, this cottage will be a welcome home from home to retreat to.

Step inside the pale blue front door and you're sure to feel right at home in this welcoming retreat for eight. With its hooks, the entrance porch is the perfect place for leaving coats and boots before continuing into the spacious hallway, decorated with a fabulous tartan carpet. On your left is the inviting living room; light, bright and airy thanks to the large window to the front, this really is a wonderful space. Choose between the two stylish three-seater sofas or the matching two-seater sofa, ideally positioned around the gas-effect fire in the feature original fireplace. There's also a wall-mounted TV for entertainment and a quirky sheep footstool for relaxing in style!

Across the hallway is the dining room. The large wooden dining table in here is the ideal meeting point for catching up on the day's events over a hearty, home-cooked meal. The tub chair in the corner is the perfect spot to escape to with a good book and the dining room also has a TV so there's no need to fight over the remote! At the back of the cottage is the kitchen, well equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, fridge-freezer, four-slice toaster and the ever important kettle. There's also a dishwasher and a useful washing machine should you wish to make use of that during your stay.

Upstairs on the first floor are two of the four bedrooms: both are king size. The first bedroom is bright and spacious; built-in wardrobes and drawers provide plenty of storage and the chair at the window is great for a bit of people watching. The second bedroom is decorated in calming blue tones - you're sure to feel instantly relaxed in here. This room also has a wardrobe as well as a handy wash basin tucked in the corner.

Also on the first floor is the family bathroom. As well as the WC and wash basin, there's also a bath with shower over so all tastes are catered for her, whether you prefer a long soak in the tub or a reinvigorating shower.

Onwards and upwards to the second floor. Up here you'll find the third bedroom, another lovely bright room with fantastic views over the rooftops towards Latrigg and Skiddaw beyond. A stylish wardrobe and matching chest of drawers provide plenty of storage and there's also a quirky yellow chair. The fourth bedroom is a lovely twin room. A handy bedside table with cute lamp sits between the two single beds. The second-floor shower room has a WC, wash basin and modern shower enclosure, perfect for refreshing tired muscles after a day out in the fells.

To the rear of the cottage is a delightful enclosed patio garden. With a wooden bench and bistro-style table with two chairs, it's a lovely spot, equally suited to a peaceful morning coffee and an evening aperitif. There's also a useful, lockable outbuilding which has a secure line anchored to the floor that bikes can be chained to.

On street parking can be found close by, just a short walk from the cottage.

We loved this cottage! It was clean, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The views of the mountains from all of the bedrooms were lovely. It was an ideal location for access to the town and the lake too.

Great location being 5 minute walk into the town but very quiet. Parking on the street was relatively easy. Lovely modern bathrooms and spacious bedrooms and living areas. Kitchen quite small but had everything you needed to self cater. Whole house was clean and well equipped.

This is a lovely cottage - perfectly placed in Keswick for walking and the town. The small yard helped too as we had a pushchair with us. It was spacious and comfortable. We loved staying here. Thank you.

Cottage was clean as expected. Situated close to the town and far enough away to be quiet on a night. Bike storage was handy. Parking was a bit hit and miss but would get somewhere close by. Kitchen is a bit small to cook for 8 guests so I would bear that in mind if planning to self cater. All in all good value for money.

Very nice and comfortable house, a 2 minute walk from the centre of Keswick. Comfortable beds. A very enjoyable long weekend away. Only negative is the kitchen is a tad small for the number of people it sleeps.
