Enjoy walking, water sports and outdoor adventures with this cosy and comfortable getaway as your base. Ideal for a solo adventure or romantic retreat for two, it’s brilliantly located for exploring Bowness, Windermere, Kendall and beyond. The cottage is even located on a working farm (look out for lambs in the springtime!), and you’re surrounded by wildlife and with fell walks from the door.
Exposed stone walls and a wood burner give the open-plan lounge a wonderfully welcoming feel, with a choice of plush seating arranged for relaxing evenings around the TV. A handsome bedroom sits alongside, with a super-king-size, four-poster bed and an en-suite shower room. A short flight of steps leads down to the kitchen/diner, which boasts rustic beams and a skylight to maximise natural light. Everything you’ll need to create delicious holiday meals is provided, including a microwave and a dishwasher. An external utility room provides useful laundry facilities. The cottage also enjoys a private garden where you can sip a morning coffee or a sundowner while enjoying views over the fells. Ample off-road parking is available on site.
Just 2 miles away, the charming village of Bowness-on-Windermere offers an enticing range of shops and places to eat and drink, as well as some of the best views in the Lake District. From here, you can take a steamer on Lake Windermere, try some water sports, or simply stroll around the shores of the lake and take in the sights and sounds that inspired children’s author Beatrix Potter. Ambleside, 7 miles, is a great starting point for walking or cycling into the national park, while Kendal, 9 miles, is a great place for a day trip, offering independent boutiques, a variety of cafes and the majestic Kendal Castle.
