Ben Fold is a delightful cottage. For a city family like us, being in the middle of nowhere was just great. As others have commented, the internet can be a bit slow, but that did not concern us a jot.

Perfect location and the layout of the cottage is perfect. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the heating system kept us nice and warm throughout. The garden is lovely even in December and very dog friendly. The boot room or drying room as we called it , is most useful and always warm. All in all Ben Fold is an excellent property, it just nRead moreeed its furniture in the lounge updating, Big corner sofa would be ideal, remove some of the out dated ornaments and new rugs etc. Hide

Lovely and comfortable cottage. We were six adults and two dogs and the downstairs accommodation worked really well with large kitchen/diner and adjacent living room. Well equipped, great location.

Lovely location and very peaceful. 25 min walk to Hawkshead through the fields, or 15 mins to the pub at Outgate. Cosy cottage, lazyboy chairs, powerful showers. A handy drying room and all facilities we needed. Garden enclosed but not escape proof, so kept a watch on the dog when outside to avoid visits to the ponies in the next field. The cottage is in a nice location, but it does need to be updated, we had issues with the cleanliness, stained cushions, it wasn't as dog friendly as was stated, we also had a leak in the cottage which had clearly been there for a number of days before we arrived (brown stain on wall), dogs are not allowed upstairs and ours escaped twice. Issues wiRead moreth the cleaning, when we moved the sofa (to play cards), there was a broken Christmas bauble under the sofa (it was July) and a dog ball. Hide

Ben Fold is a cosy and comfortable cottage located in a very quiet, rural area with a good enclosed garden if you have a dog. Good location for surrounding towns and lakes if you're not a walker trying to bag Wainwrights. We certainly slept well due to the quiet location and long days walking! The drying room was a God send due to the amount of raiRead moren and is separate to the cottage - so no soggy clothes, boots and socks to trip over. Hide

Have stayed at Ben Fold on a few occasions. Excellent location & charming cottage. Very comfortable. However, on last couple of occasions have found cleaning in lounge & kitchen not thorough. Couldn't fault the prompt service regarding fault with one shower which was dealt with efficiently & very promptly.

Wonderful cottage in a wonderful spot, super for access to Grizedale on the bikes and for walking and access to the fells. The drying room is an amazing touch and such a useful space for bikes and drying wet clothes. The eco credentials of the cottage are top notch and the character has been maintained which is fantastic.

We have stayed in many of your properties over the past 25 years and Ben Fold is right at the top of my list. It was well maintained, everything worked and very well equipped. It was cosy and warm, and a beautiful fully enclosed garden, which was perfect of our dogs. I'd highly recommend Ben Fold and will definitely rebook in the very near future.

Would he useful to have a manual to explain certain things. For example recycling. We didn't know where the bin for recycling was so I had to leave glass and cardboard in the kitchen.

Lovely cottage in a nice location but simple everyday items like ice packs & bin liners were not provided. Website states wood burner with fuel supplied however there were 6 logs to last a week so be prepared. Disappointed in the way some issues were handled by customer service. On a positive note, very comfortable sitting room & clean beds.
