Ravenglass is a unique Lake District village as it is the only seaside village in the national park. From the beach you can enjoy views to Corney Fell in Eskdale and Black Coombe whilst taking in the sea air - an unusual and truly lovely combination.

Situated on the Western peninsular of the Lake District, Ravenglass is a sleepy seaside village benefiting from coastal sunshine and within easy access of the mountains of Eskdale and Wasdale.

This property is a traditional fisherman's cottage beautifully modernised to a high standard to provide self-catering accommodation for four people. This stylish cottage has lovely sea views and a sheltered patio to enjoy them from over the estuary. The living accommodation is arranged upside down with the sitting room on the top floor and having picture window and balcony to enjoy the stunning estuary and sea views .

Ravenglass is a wonderful starting point for exploring the quiet western Lake District. There are plenty of walks either along the coast or over Muncaster Fell to Eskdale and beyond. It is also the starting point for the famous Ravenglass and Eskdale steam railway, which makes a leisurely 7-mile trip to the Eskdale Valley.

There are two pubs in the village and as well as a hotel and restaurant which is open to non residents, all of which are within a 5-minute walk.

The village shop and post office sells food and newspapers and there is also a gifts and crafts shop, which also stocks a comprehensive range of maps and guides. There is reasonable mobile reception on the beach and in certain parts of the property.

An entrance doorway leads from the street into the hallway. The property has beautiful local slate floors throughout the ground floor. On the ground floor are the bedrooms: one double and one zip-and-link bedroom. This bedroom can be made up as a twin or a king on request, it will be made up as a twin unless otherwise requested - please let us know at the time of booking. The twin bedroom is to the rear of the property, overlooking the estuary and has glass doors leading onto the patio. the shower room has slate floor with a long arm shower head, WC and wash basin.

Upstairs is the open-plan living area which has a lovely wooden floor throughout. The kitchen is fitted with local slate work surfaces, an inset sink, ceramic hob and electric oven. There is also an under counter fridge, small freezer, toaster, slow cooker, microwave, table and chairs.

The comfortable sitting room has modular chair/sofa seating, with beautiful views looking out of the picture window to the estuary and sandbanks. There is a smart TV. A door leads out to the small balcony area with steps down to the enclosed patio. Wi-Fi internet access is available at this property.

Such a wonderfully relaxing cottage to stay in. The view is amazing, just watching the tide, the birds and the stunning sunsets is therapy in itself, I'd never tire of it. The bed and sofa is so comfortable. Living on a main road at home it is an absolute delight to sleep with the window open and smell the sea air. New wee shop at the back of thRead moree Pennington was very handy and several places to eat in the village mean you don't have to drive. Many lovely walks directly from the door or hop on Lal Ratty up the valley and walk from there. Hide

Decided on a small break having seen Ravenglass on BB2 Villages By The Sea. Rivers End has a great location with views across Estuary & hills which is enhanced by being a upside down house layout.
