Retreat to the western fringes of the beautiful Lakes when you stay at this well-designed holiday home in the village of Gosforth. Located approximately 5.5 miles from the coast at Ravenglass, the four-bedroom house sleeps six guests and up to four dogs. Plan trips out to picturesque Eskdale, 5.5 miles away, or to scenic Wastwater, 4.5 miles away. Walk on the beach at Ravenglass, see the ruins of the Roman bathhouse, then return to relax out in the garden at your Gosforth cottage.

Enter via the hall and wander through to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Put the kettle on for a cup of tea, unpack the provisions you have bought and consider whipping up a tasty meal for your party. You have a useful washing machine, plus a dishwasher so no one has to wash up after dinner. Make your way over to the comfortable seating to unwind in front of the Smart TV, play games with your family or friends, or read your book. Climb the stairs at the end of each exciting day to soak in a bubble bath in the family bathroom then lay your head in either the super-king-size bedroom, the twin, the double or the small double. Spend sunny evenings out in the garden, sizzling supper on the BBQ and sitting out round the firepit until the stars come out. Parking for this cottage is on the road, subject to availability.

Keen walkers might like to attempt the 8-mile loop of Wastwater, which takes in some magical views. Eager climbers can drive 8 miles and then attempt to reach the top of Scafell Pike, the second-highest mountain in England. Stanley Ghyll Waterfall and Great Worm Cragg, both about 10 miles away, are other beauty spots hikers will enjoy.

The property was very well appointed and spotlessly clean. The beds are extremely comfortable, with lovely linen and sumptuous towels. The kitchen had everything we needed. We would definitely rent the property again in the future.

A great place to stay and see the west coast of the lake district. Comfortable and warm but parking is a bit problematic with obviously more cars than space for the terrace row. There is a large free car park 2 to 3 minutes walk away in the centre of the village.

This was a lovely well equipped cottage. The garden was secure (not just enclosed) for even our small chihuahuas. (Sadly we didn't get to use it very often because of the weather) Beds were very comfortable. Owner left a lovely welcome pack of Borders biscuits, tea bags, cappuccino sachets & 2 lots of doggy treats & some spare poo bags. Lovely baseRead more to explore the lake District (in the village itself there were 3 pubs, only tried one of them, a lovely Italian restaurant/takeaway & a bakery) Hide

Lovely cottage, lots of bedroom space. Kitchen is very well stocked. Back garden is a great size but all pebbles so good for dogs but not so great for kids, but lovely grassed park a few houses away and grassed area opposite. The bakery is a must visit, lovely cakes and bread. The pubs are lovely. The red admiral pub is a 5 min drive and their SundRead moreay dinners are amazing! Hide

This is a beautiful home, very clean and spacious though there were only 2 of us and three dogs. The back garden area is safe and secure for dogs. Even though the cottage is on a road it was really quiet and there was no real traffic noise. The village is lovely and easy access to all the beautiful sites surrounding Gosforth. There is no village shRead moreop as it was destroyed by fire, but there is a Tesco close by. There are places to eat in Gosforth and everyone is friendly and welcoming. Hide

Immaculate, well equipped, cosy home. Close to a great pub for food and a rather lovely Italian restaurant just 5 minutes walk away. Sadly the local shop was closed due to a fire, but when back in operation would be an even more perfect base to explore the area. Nice enclosed space for dogs which was easy to keep clean. We absolutely loved our stayRead more. Hide
