Set right in the heart of the much-loved Lakeland town of Keswick, this is a luxurious and comfortable base from which to explore this wonderful area. Refurbished to a very high standard and boasting stylish, contemporary decor throughout, it's a wonderfully comfortable haven for up to four people. One of a small row of Victorian terraced houses the cottage sits just less than 100 metres from the lovely pedestrianised town centre. Guests will find a lovely choice of cafes, restaurant and shops literally on the doorstep while the beautifully situated Theatre By the Lake and Keswick's own art deco cinema are just a short walk away. Twice a week the town hosts a market and throughout the year there are exhibitions festivals and events to enjoy.

Keswick's position, nestled on the shore of picturesque Derwentwater, is absolutely glorious. The choice of fell walks from the door is marvellous with everything from mighty Skiddaw, England's fourth highest mountain, to lower level fells such as Walla Crag and Latrigg all walkable from the door. Alternatively, guests can take the gentle potter down to the lake shore and perhaps catch one of Keswick's lovely launches which wind their way gently round the lake. Why not walk along the lake into the jaws of beautiful Borrowdale, have a delicious lunch at one of the lovely hotels or cafes then catch the launch back to Keswick? How very civilised. The cycling in the area is second to none with a fantastic choice of off-road adventures to be had for the mountain bikers among you and some of the most iconic road cycling in the country in fact a stage of the 2016 Tour of Britain went past the cottage.

Keswick is also well known as the adventure capital of the Lake District. Every possible outdoor activity is catered for here from rock climbing to ghyll scrambling, via ferrata to paddle boarding. There's a wealth of outdoor companies to guide your adventures, as well as two marinas and indoor climbing walls. Families are well catered for with a leisure pool with huge slide, an excellent playground and lots of activities nearby such as The Lake District Wild Animal Park and Whinlatter Forest Park. Perhaps you'd just rather snuggle up around the wood burner in this gorgeous house and enjoy a good book! However you choose to spend your time in the area, this cottage is a delightful place to start.

This terraced house, built in local slate, has been refurbished to a very high standard making a luxurious jumping off point for exploring everything this wonderful area has to offer.

Guests arrive to the front of the house along a shared front terrace and are greeted on entry with the gorgeous open-plan living space. Stretching through to the kitchen this beautiful room makes the most of the traditional character of the house while bringing it right into the 21st century with subtle contemporary decor and stylish furnishings.

There's a wonderful wood burner framed by a natural wood mantle creating a warm and cosy atmosphere where you can sink in to the comfy sofa or armchairs and watch the wall mounted TV with built-in DVD player. Perhaps you'd curl up with a good book or watch the world go by in the window seat. There's a table and chairs leading through to the modern, well-equipped kitchen making a lovely sociable feeling for food preparation. The kitchen has a fan oven, ceramic hobs, a microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer and a large fridge/freezer.

Moving upstairs the high spec finish continues throughout with deep luxurious carpets and sumptuous soft furnishings. The elegant en-suite master bedroom is on this floor, it has a comfy double bed, a wardrobe, dresser and wall mounted TV. The lovely en-suite shower room has a mixer shower with large drencher head housed in a curved enclosure. The first floor also has the light and airy family bathroom, bathed in light it's a fabulous space with a contemporary bathroom suite that includes a WC, sink and bath with shower over. Its large bath is perfect for soaking away tired muscles after long days exploring the fells.

Moving up to peaceful hideaway of the twin bedroom (this room can also be made up as a super-king should your party require it, please advise on booking). This is a spacious and bright room with a velux and a dormer window bathing the room in light and providing a glorious view. Guests can look over the rooftops of Keswick to a marvellous panorama of fell tops including mighty Skiddaw, England's fourth highest mountain standing guard over the town. There are two comfy chairs for reading or relaxing, a wardrobe, dresser and a wall mounted television with DVD player too.

Outside the cottage benefits from a small garden area with seating to the front and a lockable shed for bikes to the rear. In all it's an indulgent nest of a house right in the heart of one of the most sought after towns in the beautiful Lake District.

We loved our stay! Perfect location for exploring the town and the fells, close to the bus stop and the park. We ticked off 14 wainwrights on our trip and this was the perfect place to relax and recuperate after long walks! The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were super comfortable! Worth noting the outside space isnt inclosed so dogsRead more have to be on a lead, and theyre not allowed in the bedrooms/on sofa. Ours enjoyed being in front of the log burner on the chilly nights. The cottage was located in the heart of Keswick so easy access to the town and Fitz park. Parking permit worked well and car park close to the property. Some difficultly with a pram as had to use back door. Cottage was lovely and cosy, very clean and tidy. Enjoyed a great week at this property.

Cottage was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. Although overlooking the car park the cottage is well screened with a seating area so was not an intrusion at all. Location is perfect for all in Keswick, no need to use the car unless going further afield. Comes with parking permit. Would definitely recommend

Small but perfectly formed - very clean and nicely presented. Great location for us - the car park permit worked well. We tackled Wainwrights most days but nice to come back to the buzz of Keswick. Lovely log burner for chilly nights.

This is a lovely cottage in a great location. I would agree with some earlier reviews in that it was a shame there wasnt anything there on arrival (empty tea and coffee jars) but maybe this isnt how things are done anymore. I would also point out that the photos do make the cottage (albeit lovely) appear bigger than it is, and I felt the downstairsRead more was more catered for 2 people than 4. If anyone is taking pets, just bear in mind there isnt an enclosed garden. All being said, it is lovely. Hide
