Situated at the gateway to two of the Lake District's most beautiful and tranquil valleys is this cottage. Sleeping up to six people in three comfortable bedrooms, the cottage is in the heart of the bustling village of Gosforth and is perfectly placed to make the most of all the outdoor opportunities that the area has to offer. It has bags of character with countless period details revealing the personality of the building while benefiting from modern, comfortable furnishings and an elegant eye for decor throughout.

Gosforth is a delightful little village nestled between the mountains and the sea on the western fringe of the Lake District National Park. Boasting four pubs, a busy village shop, an excellent child-friendly restaurant and a great network of walks right from the door it's a vibrant little place which provides the perfect jumping off point for exploring this corner of Cumbria. The area's Norse and Roman heritage will delight history buffs with evidence of both ancient cultures evident in the countryside nearby. Families are well catered for with an excellent play park in the village as well as wonderful easy walks and gentle riverside strolls for puddle jumping welly walks. Muncaster Castle makes a great family day out just six miles away. It's a historic and according to legend 'haunted' gem set in stunning grounds with lots of events going on for visitors throughout the year.

The simply staggering valley of Wasdale is nearby, renowned for having England's highest mountain, deepest lake and smallest church. In a national poll it was also voted Britain's favourite view. Despite of all of these accolades it remains a wonderfully tranquil haven for walkers, cyclists, wild swimmers or anyone just wanting to sit and marvel at its magnificent scenery. Eskdale is another stunning valley with an atmosphere all of its own. Just 5 miles from Beck Place it also has a world of wonderful walking with high fells, forest ambles and even a Japanese Garden. The valley also boasts the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway; a magical narrow gauge steam engine which gently trundles up to the foot of the high fells at Boot from the delightful village of Ravenglass on the coast. Whether you'd like to spend your visit out in the fresh air or enjoying a pint of real ale by the roaring log fire of a local pub then this cottage makes a marvellous western Lake District base.

This comfortable cottage has been thoughtfully decorated to make the most of its period features while bringing it right up to date with luxurious furnishings and modern decorative touches.

Guests enter via the back door where you are first met with a porch area with coat hooks. Beyond this is the lovely bright kitchen. With light modern units, wooden worktops and a stylish stone floor it's a lovely space to create your culinary delights. It's well equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, Bosch fan oven, halogen hobs, fridge/freezer and washer/ dryer. The kitchen opens up into a delightful dining area with a decorative fireplace, wooden floorboards and a heavy wooden dining set. There's a stereo in here and a great selection of music thoughtfully left by the owner to create the soundtrack to your holiday.

Moving through to the wonderfully comfortable living room guests will find two stylish deep sofas perfect for cuddling up around the cosy wood burner set into the original sandstone fireplace. There's lovely heavy wooden furniture, a sumptuous rug and some gorgeous decorative touches making it feel the perfect relaxing space. There's also a large flatscreen TV with Sky and a DVD player complete with a great selection of DVD for whiling away chilly evenings.

Upstairs, the three lovely bedrooms have a wonderful mix of elegant antique furnishings and modern decorative touches. With natural wood details, thoughtfully chosen local artwork and traditional wooden latched doors it really is a stylish and welcoming space. The king-size bedroom has a lovely white metal bedstead with wardrobe and drawers and a view to the front of the house. The super-king bedroom has zip-and-link beds which can be made up as a twin should your party require. (Please advise us on booking how you would like the room to be made up) It also has a large dresser and built-in wardrobe space. The cosy bunk room looks out to the rear of the house. The lovely light bathroom has a modern white suite with over-bath mixer shower.

Outside there's off-street parking for one large car or up to two carefully parked small cars with one blocked in. Moreover, there's a delightful enclosed garden with raised lawn and patio area making a gorgeous sun trap on lovely days. There's a substantial outdoor dining set on the patio which is perfect for sunny evening meals, morning cuppas and relaxing post-ramble glasses of wine.

Great location for the coast and the hills. Area nice and quiet but 4 places to eat in the village is a real bonus. Also a lovely bakery few mins walk down the road. Cottage itself is 10/10.
