This property is set in an idyllic location in the Esk Valley, 3 miles from the remote and stunning valley of Eskdale. It provides comfortable accommodation in the peaceful western Lake District with glorious walks in every direction. The 12 acres of pasture and woodland are rich in wildlife with red squirrels, deer and many varieties of birds including barn owls.

The immediate area offers many opportunities for climbing, cycling or walking. Or you could simply relax in the tranquil garden.

The property makes an excellent base for exploring this western corner of Cumbria. Nearby Muncaster Castle has beautiful gardens and a wonderful owl sanctuary. Ravenglass on the coast has an interesting Roman history and is the main departure station for the famous La’al Ratty steam railway.

Wastwater is 6 miles away framed by the magnificent fells of Great Gable and Scafell Pike - on a sunny day it provides a truly unforgettable view.

The property is spacious and well appointed, perfect for entertaining large groups of up to 14.

There is a large open-plan living/dining room with comfortable sofas, wood burner and Sky television. A good selection of books, games and maps are available. The farmhouse kitchen is brilliantly equipped for entertaining and includes a large rustic dining table, dishwasher, full size fridge and freezer and electric oven and hob.

The kitchen and living room both open onto a slate patio and picnic area with a spacious enclosed garden/lawn beyond. There is also a BBQ available for those warm summer evenings. There is a second smaller sitting room, also with a cosy wood burner. This is the older part of the house, where there is a small dining/study area in the entrance hall.

First-floor accommodation is reached by two separate staircases from different parts of the house. The first staircase leads to two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and a bunk bedroom. There is a family bathroom comprising of a bath with shower over, wash basin and WC.

The second staircase leads to a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a bunk bedroom. There is a further family bathroom with a bath and shower over, a wash basin and WC. A useful airing cupboard is available for storing wet outdoor gear.

Outside there is access to the 12 acres of garden, pasture and woodland. Horse stabling is available by prior arrangement with the owner. There is a games barn at the back of the property which has table tennis and table football (please note it is an open barn). There is a log store outsider and guests are welcome to use wood from here and leave money in the honesty box. Two travel cots and one high chair are also available.

Wonderful for extended Family stay

Large cottage in a reasonable drivable distance to the Lakes and the Seaside. Welcomes dogs, who enjoyed the walks in the land around the property. We had 9 adults and still some bunk beds to spare.

The cottage and the grounds are perfect for adults and children , the pizza oven and the stream and listening and seeing the birds are a bonus .The cottage is well equipped with everything you should need ,the only down side is the colour of the water which after awhile we did get used to but we drank bottled water whilst we were there , There wereRead more 13 of us and two dogs and we had a wonderful time ,it was our second time we have been to stay Hide

We had a great holiday in Eskdale. The house is great. Well maintained and well equipped (I have never been to a house with a coffee grinder). Tom the owner was very supportive and helpful
