After receiving compensation and concluding the complaint process, I feel it is important to leave an honest review for future guests. We booked a short stay through Holiday Cottages at The Cobbles and arrived to find a property that, in our opinion, fell well below acceptable cleanliness standards. The issues included stains on the mattress proRead moretector, mould within the property, dirty cups and rugs, a mould-covered coffee canister containing old coffee, a fridge that was not functioning properly, and a freezer door being held shut with folded cardboard. We understand that older cottages will naturally show signs of age and wear. Our concerns had nothing to do with the age or character of the property. The issue was cleanliness, hygiene, and basic maintenance. We documented the condition of the property with photographs and video evidence and raised the issues immediately. The company acknowledged the problems and offered compensation, which we accepted in order to bring the matter to a close. However, we do not believe the compensation reflected the extent of the issues encountered during our stay. What disappointed us most was that many of these issues should have been identified and rectified before guests arrived. Holiday accommodation should be clean, properly maintained, and ready for occupancy. In this case, it simply was not. I would encourage future guests to inspect their accommodation carefully upon arrival and report any concerns immediately. Hide

Lovely characterful cottage, in a superb location. Very clean. And well equipped for such a small place. Comfy bed. Not a gas stove now though - electric.

Lovely cottage in the heart of Keswick, small but perfect with comfortable bed, glimpses of the mountains from the windows and full of afternoon and evening sunshine. We would highly recommend. The pub at the end of the road, The Wainwright, did simple, tasty food and was a very friendly local.

Lovely little cottage in a very quiet location. Near the town centre but close to all the restaurants and shops. Parking was not too much of a problem.

Beautiful little cottage but "little" is the operative word. I was on my own and slim so no problem, but if you were a couple and one or both of you were a little on the larger side you might struggle. Fortunately not my problem and I had a great stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our one-week stay at The Cobbles. The cottage is situated in a very quiet little street, however extremely close to the town centre. Some guests described it as a 'tight squeeze', an impression we cannot share. It is small indeed but offers everything you need to cook properly and relax. There is enough storage space and hooks Read moreeverywhere. The only little drawback: We couldn't find a real patio seating area (see description). We definitely hope to be back some day! Hide

Small but finely formed & a great location for access to the centre of Keswick. Finding a parking space not insurmountable & with the good weather where better to be amidst the Fells & facilities on offer.
