This is a delightful and warm terraced cottage for four situated in Little Clifton, a peaceful Cumbrian village nestled between the Lake District National Park and the Solway Coast. It has bags of character with original beams, a built in wood burner and elegant decor. Here you’ll find yourself ideally placed to enjoy the network of cycle ways and paths in the area. The cottage is the perfect place for a couple or a family of four to make the most of all the opportunities the area has to offer.

Little Clifton is a sleep village made up of mostly residential properties, so is perfect if you want a relaxing holiday in tranquil surrounds. Despite that, it’s just a 10-mile drive to tranquil Loweswater and just beyond lie Crummock and Buttermere. Around these beautifully picturesque lakes you’ll find some of the most glorious walking in the area, not to mention some fabulous pubs! The Solway Coast is also just a 15-mile drive away. This part of the county has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its abundant bird life, quiet seaside towns and stunning sunsets. It is most definitely worth a visit!

The historic coastal town of Workington is a 4-mile drive away with its two theatres, bustling shopping centre, cinema, trampoline park, museums, and parks. Its also 7 miles from the town of Cockermouth, which has a wealth of independent shops and eateries as well as the birthplace of William Wordsworth. Why not explore Wordsworth’s childhood home or take a tour round Jennings Brewery during your visit? For the more adventurous among you, this cottage lies less than 15 miles away from Whinlatter Forest Park, where you could find yourself high up in the canopy on a Go Ape! course or careering down a single track on a mountain bike. So, whether you’re feeling like exploring the natural beauty and the vibrant history of Cumbria or just savouring the tranquillity and local charm of a village like Little Clifton, this cottage is a great jumping off point.

On arrival, you first enter into the charming living room with dining area. This is a beautifully comfortable space with original beams, a built in wood burner and lovely fresh decor. It has a television with Freeview and a DVD player along with a selection of DVDs to borrow. You can decide whether to while away your evenings around the large dining table or on one of two comfy sofas relaxing and planning your Lake District adventures. The coffee table is even decorated with an ordnance survey map to help give you inspiration. There is a chest by the door for muddy boots (this also doubles as a seat) as well as an under stair cupboard for storing coats.

The well-equipped kitchen is a lovely light colourful space for preparing a meal. It has a fridge/freezer, microwave, built in electric oven and gas hobs and a washing machine. From here you look out on to the courtyard at the back of the cottage.

Upstairs the elegant and calm colour scheme continues throughout. Both the twin bedroom and the king size master bedroom are thoughtfully designed with lovely furnishings and characterful windows. Indeed both are delightfully comfortable rooms for a cosy break away. The spacious bathroom has an electric shower over the bath, the bath itself is full length and in a grotto like space to enjoy a soak after long Lakeland walks.

At the back of the house there is a courtyard garden. Climbing clematis and jasmine grow along the walls out here which in summer make it a delightful spot to sit out and enjoy a glass of wine. In the courtyard you'll find a lockable shed for bikes and even access out on to the village playing field, ideal for younger guests.

This is a lovely cottage which is thoughtfully equipped and comfortable. We had a great time and would definitely recommend it to others. The log burner worked a treat! Towels were provided even though we had been told they wouldn't be. Good location in a quieter part of the Lake District

A tastefully decorated cottage with large rooms in a quiet part of the northern Lake District. There is a nice walk from the door uphill to a farm entrance and back taking in glimpses of beautiful scenery & myriad farm animals - a trip of around 3 miles on a tarred road. Ideal for dog walking. The kitchen is well equipped & the bathroom is relativelRead morey modern. We were itching to use the wood burning stove but the weather was far too hot! Loads of games/books/dvds. No shops or pubs in the village. Hide

Lovely character full cottage in an ideal location. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Wood burner was delightful we had couple chilly nights added to the cosy Ness of the cottage. That said the cottage was lovely and cool in the days we had that were very hot. Couldn't fault anything. Ideal location for days out. Would definitely stay there Read moreagain. Hide

Overall we were disappointed at the quality of the property for the price. Lots of little issues that need attention and are easy to fix and would help improve the stay. The kitchen is really small. No facilities in the village.
