Property code: OC-SZ243

Dating back to the 1800s, this delightful slate-fronted cottage has been beautifully and sensitively restored throughout using traditional materials and luxury fixtures and fittings. It oozes rustic charm, with slate flag floors, oak latch doors, sash windows and cast iron radiators. A real gem of a Lake District cottage! With a spacious open-plan living space, a gorgeous modern kitchen and two charming double bedrooms, both en-suite, the house is well suited to two couples. The comfy sofas with matching woollen throws and roaring wood burner will be just the tonic after a day out on the fells. The cottage has the added advantage of off-road parking for one car, which is a rarity in the centre of Grasmere.

Situated on a quiet lane right in the centre of the pretty village of Grasmere, it is superbly convenient to all local amenities. Grasmere is an idyllic Lake District village with a stunning mountain backdrop and lots to explore. There are a good selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants and lots of charming little gift shops, interesting art galleries and the world-famous Grasmere Gingerbread Shop.

Nestled right in the heart of the Lake District it offers some fantastic walking opportunities. From the doorstep of the cottage there is plenty to offer the casual walker, whilst also keeping the more serious hiker fully entertained. From strolls along the coffin route to Ambleside to full-day hikes around the Fairfield Horseshoe, there is something for everyone. A short meander out of the village brings you to Faeryland on the shores of Grasmere where you can hire rowing boats or simply sit back and drink in the views whilst sampling their tea and cakes.

Entry via the front door leads into the charming open-plan lounge. There is useful coat storage at the front door for jackets and outdoor gear. A wood burner keeps the lounge warm and the comfy sofas and smart TV make it the prefect spot to relax after a long day on the fells. A selection of guidebooks, board games and jigsaw puzzles are available for use during your stay. The dining area has a wooden table and chairs for four people.

Off the dining area is the open plan galley-style kitchen, which is extremely well-equipped with an integrated fridge with small freezer compartment, induction hob, electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine and wine cooler. The beautiful kitchen is complemented with slate worktops. The skylight and bi-folding doors allow a stream of natural light. With a great selection of glassware, crockery and utensils you'll have everything you need for cosy meals in. Throughout the ground floor the slate flag floors, cast iron radiators and sash windows compliment the country cottage feel.

A stunning feature wooden staircase leads up from the dining area to the first floor bedrooms. Both bedrooms are beautifully decorated and continue the rustic cottage theme with solid wooden furniture, cast iron radiators, sash windows and oak latch doors. Luxury bed linen and chenille throws complete the look. Both bedrooms are equipped with touch base lamps, Smart TVs and hairdryers. One bedroom has views over the chapel courtyard and the other over the rooftops to Silver How mountain. Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with gorgeous drench showers, WCs, and heated towel rails.

Had a nice week here. Coop very handy and well stocked for a small store. A welcome pack might be nice, particularly for anyone arriving late

Lovely cottage, fantastic location in Grasmere. Central to all amenities in the village and great position for exploring the Lakes. Parking a little tight but no real issues, good practice for 3 point turns.

A lovely cottage for couples or a family. Good location in Grasmere with cafes, pubs and little shops. We particularly liked the Inn. The house has 2 bedrooms with very comfy beds and good en-suites. Good family space and place was warm. Despite an issue getting in, we really liked the cottage and would recommend it. No welcome pack so remember to Read morebring Milk etc. The local co-op was closed for refurbishment so a heads up would have been nice. Parking tight but doable. Hide

Great little cottage, comfortable and well equipped, in the heart of Grasmere. Loved the Herdy theme throughout! Parking space is an added bonus but for anyone travelling without a car there are so many walks from the door and an excellent bus service for travelling further a field.
