Excellent location , spacious and comfortable. We did feel a little exposed due to the absence of window blinds especially in the upstairs twin room which overlooks the beer garden of the Royal Oak pub. Blackout curtains would be useful as there is a lot of light from the surroundings. Although we had a parking space by the side of the house our Read morecar was damaged by another vehicle during our stay which was disappointing as there was no acknowledgement from the vehicle owner who caused it. The cul de sac is densely packed with properties and cars as well as frequent visits from delivery drivers and of course the refuse collectors. The standard of our accommodation was very good in summary and we would recommend. A great holiday cottage in a fantastic location with views across to the hills from most windows, and private parking. We love Braithwaite, its very pretty with tons of wonderful walks straight from the door - Barrow & Outerside are old favourites, the Coledale round is probably the most challenging in the whole area and Catbells/High Spy is a 40 Read moreminute walk from the house via the lovely Newlands valley. Theres 2 decent pubs with ok food (booking essential for both, theyre popular), 2 restaurants and 2 cafes, plus a local shop - its very well served for being so small. Its a 5 minute drive into Keswick or an hour walk on designated footpaths via Portinscale, which also has a pub and 2 very good cafes. Possibly the cleanest accommodation weve come across in 25 years of renting, with easy to control heating, a pretty electric fire effect for cosy evenings and tons of hot water with power shower. Very comfortable beds & pillows, good quality linens and towels. The additional downstairs loo is very handy. The kitchen is equipped well enough to make a full Christmas lunch, which we did! Thank you for the addition of the Christmas tree. The WiFi was also excellent, as was the Google Chrome - Ive never used it before but it was extremely easy. Download Netflix/Disney/Amazon etc apps onto your phone (if youre a subscriber), connect to the WiFi and voila; no glitching, perfect picture. Great for movie nights. The DVD player was also very handy. Also appreciated was the small welcome pack, plus a few loo rolls, kitchen roll, washing up liquid & dishwasher tablets and tin foil. We used the thermos flask for walks, and theres even a couple of Tupperware boxes for sandwiches. Theres also 2 mainly empty kitchen cupboards for dry food storage, a rarity in many cottages. To summarise, a comfortable & clean cottage with everything youd need in a fantastic location, would recommend. Hide

Wonderful comfortable property in a great central location. We were weathered in my an amber weather warning on one of the days but it was a joy to spend the day in the cottage and braving a short walk to the pub for lunch.

Acorn cottage is a lovely cosy cottage.. It is very well equipped with everything that you need for your holiday.. The utility room was an absolute plus, for our waterproofs and walking boots, as the weather was rather inclement on a few days..
