Set amid idyllic countryside within 4 miles of Windermere and Bowness, this superb barn conversion makes a wonderful base for exploring the Lake District. An enticing blend of rustic charm and contemporary cool, this two-bedroom cottage is bursting with character. Located on a working farm with two other holiday properties, it appeals to couples, small families and friends looking to stay away from the crowds but within easy reach of the action.

This barn has been sympathetically converted and decorated using traditional materials such as slate flooring, stone walls and wooden beams with high quality furnishings and lots of cosy touches. The country-style kitchen is a delight to prepare meals in before gathering around the farmhouse-style dining table, while the lounge invites relaxation after a day on the trails, with deep sofas and a roaring wood burner. When night falls, choose between a ground-floor king-size bedroom next to the family bathroom, or venture upstairs where a second king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room offers a little extra privacy. Outside, a bistro table and chairs invite a morning brew or evening glass of wine in the fresh country air. Guests also benefit from private parking for two cars.

This property is on the outskirts of Ings, a small Lakeland village with a handful of amenities including a traditional pub and brewery. The surrounding countryside is perfect for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers, with herons, dippers, buzzards, kestrels and red squirrels all found here. Head to the twin towns of Windermere and Bowness (both within 4 miles) to enjoy traditional Lake District activities such as boat trips, lakeside strolls, and water activities, or pick up some popular walking routes.

The cottage is cosy and comfortable and has everything needed. The views are amazing and it was fun to be on a working farm. The swallows and bluebells in May are beautiful.

As a family of 4 with a 8 year old and 1 year old we had the most amazing 4 nights here. The hosts were incredible, made us all feel very welcome especially the children who were invited to interact with the animals on the farm and told us all about them. We have stayed in numerous places in the lakes before and it was the little touches here that Read moremade the property so great, freshly cut flowers, little treats for the kids (and grown ups) and toys brought over. The cottage itself is stunning, beautifully decorated and the views are to die for! Never have i ever enjoyed washing up so much to look out at the view. Perfect location away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to anything you could need. Can not wait to stay again Hide

This cottage is absolutely lovely. The location is beautiful. We stayed for four nights and would strongly recommend it for anyone that is visiting the Lake District. Owners are great and we got a tour of the farm. The cottage is beautiful inside, kitchen has all you need, the bathrooms are great and have a to die for bath and the log burner makes Read morethe whole place very cosy. Both bedrooms are lovely, beds and bedding extremely comfy and of very good quality and the views from the upstairs bedroom are beautiful. Would strongly recommend a stay here and we will hopefully return very soon. Hide

This cottage is incredible. Secluded and peaceful, stunning views and superior fixtures and fittings. After a lakeside walk in the rain, the bath and log fire were just what I needed. Will definitely return.

we had an unforgettable stay. The house is perfectly located just off the main road, but you still get the feeling of 'in the middle of nowhere'. We love the animals on the farm, very well taken care of, and our chats with the hosts. The house has all the comforts and beyond . Would gladly stay again. Thank you to the hosts.

Really nice and cosy, right in the heart of the farm. The owners are very friendly and took time out of their busy day (a few times) to show us round and introduce us to all the animals! The location was perfect, only a short drive to the picturesque villages and the larger steeper walks.
