Forming part of the former stables of an adjoining Victorian house, the cottage has bags of comfort and character as well as access to stunning shared grounds with magnificent views of the surrounding fells. Aside from these, visitors can also enjoy the great range of shops and eateries on offer in the town. It's just a 1-mile walk or a 5-minute drive from the apartment. For the history buffs among you, discover Castelrigg Stone Circle or literary lovers should head to nearby Mirehouse. The apartment really does make an ideal base to explore this lovely area as well as a tranquil setting to enjoy its own immediate surroundings.

On arrival at the house, guests enter directly from the designated parking area. The front door leads to a light, airy entrance hall with plenty of space for coats and muddy boots. The staircase to all of the accommodation leads up from here.

The open-plan living area has a lovely comfortable feel about it with its exposed beams, large window and door, sociable layout and electric flame-effect fire for chilly evenings. This was our first time at Derwent Cottage Mews and it certainly wont be our last! In fact, we booked again for next year before coming home. The apartment is well situated close to Keswick which is around a 20 minute lovely walk by the river and via a well made path through the fields. The living space was delightful with beautiful views Read moreinto the well established garden, and across the fields. The apartment is lovely and private. There was access directly into the garden through a stable type door and down a few steps. There were a couple of bench seats situated in the garden which was lovely after a walk. This was the best kitchen weve had in a holiday cottage. There was simply nothing else we could have needed. Everything was spotlessly clean and obviously looked after. The bathroom was large and again had everything you would hope for. Everything was spotless. There was a great selection of towels too. Everything in this apartment exudes quality. The bedroom was spacious and the bed was a super king size and very comfortable with pristine bedding. There was plenty of storage and a generous amount of coat hangers. A lovely touch was the carton of milk, sachets of coffee, and teabags waiting for us. Great to have a cuppa before unpacking. The entrance also had plenty of coat hooks and a thoughtful drip tray just in case it rains. We had the privilege of meeting the owner when we arrived. He kindly let us know some bees were being moved. This didnt cause us an issue at all and we appreciated the visit. All in all this has been the best holiday accommodation weve experienced in the 15 years weve been holidaying in the Lake District. Cant wait until next year! Hide
