Originally two separate cottages and located in the delightful village of Braithhwaite, this cottage is a charming home from home for six people. Look out for the large wooden farm gate and bright yellow front door down some steps, a delightful way to enter this charming cottage. Inside, you'll find a wonderful kitchen/diner with wood burning stove, cosy living room and a sun room. There's also a handy utility room with WC on the ground floor whilst upstairs on the first floor are the three bedrooms and family bathroom. To the rear of the cottage is a delightful garden with three patios and a lawn area, with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. As well as all this, there is parking for 2 cars and bikes can also be stored in the large covered entrance at the cottage.

Braithwaite is a paradise for walkers, with a wide variety of routes on offer staight from the front door of the cottage. Head up the road to Whinlatter Forest where there are nine woodland walking trails to choose from. Adrenaline junkies can even try out the Go Ape high ropes course, or why not hire mountain bikes and explore the three dedicated cycling trails? Walk from the cottage to Force Crag Mine for clues about the area's industrial heritage. Local fell Barrow may be modest in height but the panoramic views from the top are anything but! Serious fell walkers can also tackle Grisedale Pike, where you'll be rewarded with stunning views after the scramble up the ridge to the summit.

Walk, cycle, take the bus or drive into Keswick, just 3 miles away, for a morning mooching round the independent and outdoor shops. Grab lunch to go from one of the local cafes and head down to Derwentwater to enjoy a lakeside picnic. Why not take a ride on the popular launch to see the water from a different perspective? Families will love a trip to the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park. Or adults can treat themselves to a tour and tasting at the renowned Lakes Distillery.

The large covered entrance is ideal for leaving wet coats and muddy boots before continuing inside. The large kitchen-diner is a wonderful sociable space. Cooks in the party are sure to love whipping up a feast in the kitchen; it's well equipped with all the essentials for a self-catering holiday. There's an electric oven and hob, fridge and handy microwave as well as a good selection of useful cooking equipment. The room is complete with a cosy wood burning stove, the perfect accompaniment to meals around the dining table. A handy utility room can be found off the hallway and houses the freezer, the washer-drier, should you need to make use of this during your stay, and an indoor clothes line. There's also a useful WC in here too.

The living room is the perfect place to relax after a day out exploring and there's also a lovely sun room on the ground floor too. A wonderful light-filled room, perfect for catching up with a good book, or simply enjoy a peaceful moment looking out to the lovely garden. A wonderfully calming room, ornithologists will love sitting in here and watching the comings and goings of the many birds who also like to pay the cottage a visit (or its garden at least!). Large glazed doors open onto a paved area extending the sun room into the garden.

Up the stairs to the first floor and the three lovely bedrooms. First up is the spacious master bedroom. With a double bed and fantastic views, why not bring your morning cuppa back to bed and indulge in a long lie in - you are on holiday after all! The second equally spacious bedroom also has a double bed and lovely views over the surrounding countryside. Further along the landing you'll find the twin bedroom. Also on the first floor is the family bathroom. With a WC, wash basin and bath with shower over - whether you prefer a relaxing soak in the bath or a refreshing shower, all tastes are catered for here.

Outside the cottage there is parking for two cars and the covered entrance at the front of the cottage can also be used for storing bikes (please remember to bring your own locks), ideal if you like getting out and about on two wheels. To the rear of the cottage is the large garden with three patios and a lawn area. There are delightful views over the surrounding countryside so make the most of the outdoor furniture provided and enjoy dining alfresco with a wonderful backdrop.

Loved the cottage. What a beautiful location. There were 6 of us and it was a stretch only having the one bathroom for showers however. The cottage wasn't cleaned very well on our arrival however the company were quick to respond offering to send in cleaners.

A very well equipped and homely cottage, perfectly situated to access the fells, for five adults and a dog. The kitchen/diner area is a great sociable space to prepare and eat meals together after a day out on the hills. The conservatory was also a bonus and a nice space to relax. We had a very wet week, so is was fantastic to have the outside areaRead more to store wet boots, waterproofs, bikes and even an inflatable kayak! As was the utility room to dry wet clothes!! Thank you, we hope to return. Hide

Lovely cottage in a great location. This is a 3/4 bedroom cottage with only one small bathroom, only 2 of use staying so not an issue. Additional toilet downstairs.

We really enjoyed our stay at Turncroft Cottage, set in a fantastic location with far reaching views. The fire was very welcome on the cold nights and was easy to use. The bedrooms were spacious and the kitchen had all the amenities needed to make meals. The house was spotlessly clean and had just been painted. We spotted over 16 bird species from Read morethe cottage, and even a stoat! We would love to come back to the cottage again. Hide
