This impressive holiday home is a traditional terraced cottage in a quiet location just a few minutes' walk from the vibrant centre of Keswick. This cosy little cottage sleeps three people in two bedrooms sharing a family bathroom. The living room has a wood effect electric fire perfect for winter evenings in, so grab a book off the shelf, take a seat on the sofa and make yourself at home. Upstairs is a spacious and pretty double bedroom plus a small single overlooking the shared garden; both bedrooms have views over the surrounding streets with glimpses of the fells over rooftops. The kitchen is small but perfectly formed with everything on hand you could need; though with Keswick's range of eateries so close at hand it may be tempting just to eat out! The property makes a lovely retreat for a couple looking for a hideaway in the centre of Keswick.

Being in a quiet back street yet within a short walk of the town centre gives the property an enviable location and the best of both worlds. Keswick is a small market town which punches well above its weight with a good variety of attractions and amenities all within walking distance. The town centre contains a huge variety of places to eat and a good range of independent shops to browse around. There are walks aplenty starting from the town, or take advantage of the regular local buses to take you to an alternative start point. The beautiful Derwentwater makes for a lovely evening shoreline stroll or make a day of it and take a boat on the lake, everything from the scheduled launch service to a canoe or rowing boat are available to get you out on the water. If the weather is not so kind there are a range of indoor activities and attractions to choose from; the Keswick Museum, Pencil Museum and the Puzzling Place all offer something a bit quirky to interest all ages or take in a film at the cinema or a show at Theatre by the Lake.

Keswick is the hub of the northern Lake District and a perfect place from which to explore this beautiful area. Head over one of the passes to Buttermere and enjoy some amazing views on the way and a farmhouse ice cream when you arrive. The short walk down to the lake from the village is suitable for all and the views across the water to Fleetwith Pike and Haystacks are stunning. For a literary fix, take a drive, or a bus, along the A591 down to Grasmere and visit Dove Cottage and the associated Wordsworth museum to learn more about this influential figure. If you want a change of scene, head up to Hadrian's Wall country, where the wall takes you across some wild territory with wide ranging views as you discover more about Roman Britain at the key sites. An hour's drive will take you to Carlisle, an attractive and compact city ideal for exploring on foot - don't miss the beautiful sandstone cathedral.

This beautiful holiday home is a traditional stone-built cottage located in the quiet historic back streets of Keswick. Sleeping three guests in the two first-floor bedrooms which share a family bathroom, this is a cosy little house perfect for a small family or a couple looking for a quiet spot just a short walk from Keswick town centre. The downstairs living room has a wood effect electric fire for cosy evenings in and the compact fitted kitchen contains all you need for meals in - if you can resist the temptation of the many eating-out options, just a stroll away.

There is a parking space right outside and the front door of the property leads straight into the homely living room. Here you will find a two-seater sofa and an armchair, perfect for quiet evenings in. There is a Freeview TV, a stereo with radio and iPod dock, and a bookshelf filled with a variety of novels and some local interest books. The high ceiling and mirror above the fire make the room feel more spacious whilst the Lake District prints and map on the wall help make it welcoming and cosy.

At the back of the living room is the doorway through to the compact but beautifully finished kitchen with smart fitted units. Small it may be but it is well designed and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. There is an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice box and the sink is perfectly placed in front of the window to look out over the shared garden as you wash up. A large walk in cupboard houses a washer/dryer as well as the usual cleaning equipment and a good choice of games.

The dining area, has a table and three chairs tucked in front of a window looking out to the communal garden and provides access to outside. The back door can be accessed via the pathway in the shared garden so it is handy if you are coming in after a walk. There are also hooks for hanging coats beside the back door.

The carpeted stairs lead up from the living room and are quite steep. At the top to the left is a pretty double room; lovely and bright due to the window looking out over the street with Latrigg and Clough Head just peeking out amongst the rooftops, this is a spacious room with a high ceiling and beautiful original feature fireplace. There is plenty of storage in the chest of drawers and wardrobe and both bedside tables have lamps.

The second bedroom is a single with a lamp over the bed, chest of drawers, mirror and small table. The window looks over the shared garden to the houses and rooftops of Keswick beyond with the fells just glimpsed in between. There is a portable bed guard available to allow toddlers to safely use this room without the need for a cot.

Completing the upstairs bathroom; the towel rail is over the radiator for nice warm cosy towels and shower.

Outside is a sheltered lawned garden. This is a shared space which you are welcome to use and enjoy but please be courteous to the other residents. The property is small but perfectly formed; a cosy little retreat just a stone's throw from Keswick's vibrant town centre, ideal for getting away from it all whilst being in the middle of everything.

Very convenient for the town and lake on foot. Comfortable cottage in a quiet location but parking might be difficult for a larger car. Not much available on near by streets.

Rose cottage was the perfect cosy cottage for a weekend stay. It was very comfortable and the location was excellent - right in the centre of town and with its own car park space (for our small car) right outside the door. Having the single bedroom as well as the double was the perfect set up for us. A lovely stay and good value too.

There were a couple of minor issues when I arrived regarding the heating system and Internet. The maintenance staff arrived after a call to the holiday company and after a simple fix everything was up and running. One thing to note; this is a holiday cottage, it has a small bathroom with a narrow shower. As for the cottage itself, I recall staying Read morehere years ago. At that time there was a coal fire which has since been replaced and the cottage has undergone an upgrade. A quiet setting; perfect Hide

Good central location with a parking space. We arrived by bus from Penrith Station and the bus stop is only a few minutes away. Due to the age of the cottage the stairs are very steep with a sharp turn at the topThis should be mentioned in the cottage description as really not suitable for young children and older people. Perfect location and size of property for me & my son. Good that the car space is out front (better for smaller cars tho) & tucked away so quiet. The cottage has everything you need & enough space if you also have visitors (Im from Keswick originally so good to be able to have a few friends pop by & space to sit, enough crockery etc).
