Furthermore, if your ideal holiday home is refurbished to the highest standards with elegant interiors, luxurious furnishings, indulgent bathrooms and a warm and welcoming feel then you've certainly found the right place. Nestled in beautiful Loweswater in the Lorton Vale and sleeping up to 10 in five beautiful bedrooms, this is a Jane Austen fantasy of a house brought lovingly into the 21st century with every possible comfort.

Loweswater is a picturesque scattering of houses along the flank of the Lorton Vale. This area is a tranquil haven with towering mountains and three beautiful lakes. The property sits at the foot of Low Fell, in an enviable position for making the most of the unparalleled walking opportunities that this area offers. Well prepared walkers could take on one of the mightier peaks such as Grassmoor or Whiteside and reward themselves with a meal and a pint at a local pub. Crummock Water and Loweswater are within easy range of the house, why not pack a picnic and find a spot along their shores? You could even try a wild swim or at least a paddle in Crummock or Buttermere's crystal-clear water. Cyclists are well catered for with quiet roads, undulating bridleways and iconic mountain passes all within easy reach. The Sustrans Coast to Coast route even goes right past the door!

If you'd like to explore slightly further afield there's plenty to do. Families will love Whinlatter Forest Park which is just 6 miles away. There are miles of forest trails, a high ropes course, an excellent cafe and even a Gruffalo that your woodland sprites can find. Cockermouth is a charming Georgian town seven miles from the property, well known for being Wordsworth's birthplace, it's now a bustling hub with a delightful array of independent shops and eateries. Why not head to the Lake District's adventure capital, Keswick, just over Whinlatter Pass? Explore your wilder side by getting out ghyll scrambling, climbing or kayaking alternatively take in a play or concert at the beautifully situated Theatre by the Lake. So, whether you'd like to get outdoors and explore Lakeland's wilder side, enjoy fabulous local food and drink or just indulge yourself by staying in a simply beautiful historical holiday home then this property is the ideal place.

This characterful holiday home is an exceptional Georgian cottage for up to ten people in the glorious Lorton Vale. Refurbished to a very high standard this former gentleman's residence makes an indulgent base for a gathering of family or friends. The owners have used a subtle palette of heritage colours, sumptuous furnishings, well-chosen art and 21st century comforts to create a holiday home you'll want to visit time and time Again.

On initial arrival at the property guests enter via the imposing front entrance (once you have settled in, it would be preferred if you could use the rear entrance to the house). Ornate double doors lead into the welcoming entrance hall, off which lies the living room. It's a beautifully proportioned space with two comfy brown leather sofas and two armchairs arranged around a wood-burning stove and large Smart television. The period flavour is kept with two large sash windows, original shutters and a fabulous plaster moulded ceiling. Off the entrance hall you'll also find the spacious downstairs super-king bedroom, ideal for guests who have slightly limited mobility (this room can also be made up as a twin if required, please advise on booking). It's a gorgeous room with a wardrobe for storage and a large sash window looking out onto the grounds to the front.

Moving through to the back of the house you'll find the back door and plenty of space for all your party's outdoor gear. The stone-flagged back hallway has a shoe bench and coat hooks while a large boiler cupboard provides a handy drying space for muddy boots and wet clobber, an absolute necessity for a large group returning from a rainy walk. The well-designed downstairs shower room and WC has a large easy-access shower enclosure with a mixer shower and hand attachment.

The last area on the ground floor is the stunning kitchen-diner. Truly the heart of the house, this gorgeous room has a wonderfully sociable feel and will surely be your preferred space to gather everyone during your stay. Double doors lead out to the raised terrace area and frame a staggering view of Whiteside across the valley. The contemporary kitchen is a chef's dream being equipped with a Rangemaster dual fuel cooker with five gas hobs, hot plate and griddle, eye-height microwave and all the crockery and cookware you'll need for your group meals. There's a large fridge and dishwasher built into the stylish units and a marble-topped island unit with breakfast bar making for sociable meal preparation. The dining area has a large wooden table with a mixture of chairs next to a deep fireplace with wood burner, perfect for long post-dinner conversations planning your Lake District adventures. Also off the kitchen is a handy utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, sink and under-counter freezer, it also makes a cosy bedroom for any pooches who've accompanied you.

Time to ascend the sweeping classic staircase to the first floor where you'll find undulating floors and wonky doors reminding you of the property's history. The first king-size suite is an exquisite dual aspect room. Its floor to ceiling sash window boasts a majestic view of Whiteside while a further window looks over the grounds towards the slopes of Low Fell beyond, it's definitely worth enjoying a morning cuppa in the metal-framed bed taking in those vistas. A traditional built-in cupboard and decorative fireplace adorn the room while three steps lead you down to the luxurious en-suite bathroom where there's a double-ended claw-foot bath and separate shower enclosure. The first of the two twin rooms is next, it has white wooden bedsteads, a wardrobe for storage and a charming window seat. The second twin also has a large wooden wardrobe and a view over the grounds. Across the hallway from the twin rooms is the delightful family shower room. Built into the eaves and drenched with light from a skylight it has a mixer shower with a large drencher head and further shower attachment. Lastly to the second of the gorgeous king-size suites. Another dual aspect room, the views from this one benefit from the evening sun and a further lovely fell panorama. There's a romantic metal bedstead, a wardrobe for storage and an en-suite bathroom.
